Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5 Episode 10 Recap: How were Dazai and Sigma able to escape the elevator?

The episode starts with Aya Kōda and Bram Stoker at the top of a high-raised building. Bram Stoker asks Aya to be careful. Bram tells Aya that Fukuchi intends to keep him alive as bait. Fukuchi has displayed him on a high tower so that Fukuchi may lure the Detective Agency members to their deaths. Aya wonders why the vampire-controlled Akutagawa Ryūnosuke kept her alive as well.
Then we see Sigma and Dazai trapped in an elevator and Sigma thinks that they cannot manipulate gravity to escape the way Nakahara Chuuya can. Dazai suddenly notices a sticky liquid on the walls of the elevator and tells Sigma to get underwater. Suddenly, the elevator walls above the surface of the water start to explode. Sigma then realises that the walls were painted with transparent, flammable fuel.
If they raise their heads, they’ll burn to death, but if they stay underwater, they will drown. Dazai asks Sigma to use his pistol, but it does not have much effect underwater. Suddenly, the fire went out above the surface. Sigma instantly tries to reach the surface to breathe air but he is stopped by Dazaiwho has a serious look on his face.
Dazai comes closer to Sigma and tells him not to go up. Sigma then realizes that a flame in a confined room will quickly consume all the available oxygen. Should they try to breathe that air, their blood would instead be robbed of oxygen and they would be dead after a single breath. Sigma would have died had Dazai not stopped him.
But to be unable to raise their heads means they’re left with no choice but to drown. Dazai then takes Sigma’s gun and goes above water. He shoots a vent, climbs up and starts shooting inside the vent. Suddenly a crack in the door of the elevator appears. Dazai destroyed the tensile wire that controls the door. Sigma opens the door of the elevator and both Dazai and Sigma are finally able to breathe freely.
But just when they thought that their problems were over, an announcement occurs that says that there is an exception detected in flooding protocol and a drop impact sequence commences. The elevator suddenly starts falling downwards.
Dazai suddenly grabs Sigma and tells him that he made a promise that he’d get Sigma out alive and throws Sigma out of the elevator. Dazai tells Sigma that it’s up to him now while falling into the elevator.
The scene shifts towards Atsushi Nakajima who is running while thinking that he does not know what’s correct anymore After hearing the true goal of the Decay of Angles Atsushi Nakajima is conflicted about what he should do and thinks about his mentor Dazai who could solve the conflict in his heart.
Atsushi then comes out of the tunnel and sees Aya with Bram Stoker at the top of the building. He suddenly starts running towards Aya to save her but Aya tells her not to come as it is a trap. Atsushi then suddenly notices that Akutagawa is behind him and is ready to attack.
The scene then shifts towards Sigma again who seems hopeless now. Sigma thinks of running because it was never his fight anyway. Sigma then notices a piece of paper stuck to his shoes and there is something written on it in Russian language.

At the airport, Akutagawa starts attacking Atsushi. Atsushi is confused about what is happening here and tries to dodge Akutagawa’s attacks. Atsushi attacks Akutagawa and sees that Akutagawa is not protecting himself with his powers. Atsushi then realises that Akutagawa is under the influence of the Vampire, Bram Stoker’s abilities. Atsushi tells Akutagawa that he still wants the answer about why Akutagawa saved him from Fukuchi.
Inside the European facility, Meursault Dazai is badly wounded due to his fall. He broke his leg. Dazai then looks into the camera and asks Fyodor Dostoevsky to give him peace. Fyodor then orders the vampire-controlled Nakahara Chuuya to kill Dazai who is on the fourth floor. Suddenly, Sigma appears behind Fyodor and shoots one of his arms.
Sigma tells Fyodor to withdraw his orders to attack Dazai. Sigma tells Fyodor that he will touch Fyodor and learn all his plans for the airport. Fyodor tells Sigma that it only took Dazai ten-odd minutes to manipulate Sigma. Fyodor explains that Sigma is not the kind of man who would normally take such risks.
In observing Dazai, Sigma was forced into a realization that what he really needs isn’t a place Sigma can call “home”, but trust. In other words, Sigma had thought that he wanted to become a Detective Agency member. Sigma points the gun at Fyodor’s head and says that it may be true that he is being manipulated, but it was Dazai who paid the price for that.
When a patron makes a raise, a casino must respond in kind! Sigma further tells Fyodor that in fact, Fyodor was the one who tried to manipulate Sigma. Fyodor tries to cast doubt on Dazai and make Sigma lower his gun therefore, Dazai wins control over Sigma. Sigma then asks Fyodor about his special ability.
At the airport, Aya finds that if the government does not hand over One Order to Fukuchi in five minutes, all the vampires will attack the whole world. Aya notices that Bram Stoker knew about it. Bram tells Aya that Fukuchi wielded the Holy Sword and sent a command to the vampire while she was asleep.
Aya then thinks that she needs to get the sword out of Bram. Bram tells Aya that it is impossible for her as the roots of the Holy Sword are too sturdy for her. Aya still tries to remove the sword. We then see that Aya reminds Bram Stoker of his daughter.
