Riko Amanai, the pivotal Star Plasma Vessel, holds a crucial role in the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, particularly during the gripping Hidden Inventory Arc.
Throughout the three episodes of this season, she takes centre stage as the most vital character, driving the narrative forward with her presence and significance. However, the devastating turn of events takes a tragic toll on her, leading to a heart-wrenching end in the third episode.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Will Riko die? How will Riko die? Who killed Riko?
This article delves into the upsetting subject of Riko’s fate: will she survive, or will tragedy overtake her?
As we untangle the story’s intricate strands, we discover heartbreaking details about how her journey concludes, putting us on the edge of our seats, anxious to discover the truth behind her potentially tragic ending.
Riko Amanai has been chosen to be the Star Plasma Vessel of Master Tengen.
From the first episode, we know who Master Tengen is and why it is mandatory for him to undergo this procedure of switching bodies.
Master Tengen is an eternal jujutsu sorcerer who must change bodies every 500 years in order to overwrite his body’s knowledge and fight his Immortality cursed method. The fusion keeps him from further growing and becoming a menace to mankind.
She is a 14-year-old junior high school student at Renchoku Girls’ Junior High School.
Chosen as the vessel, Riko will face an inevitable merging with Tengen that will erase her very existence.
While aware of the harsh reality of this procedure, she initially held a sense of optimism.
However, everything changed during her final days spent with Gojo, Geto, and Kuroi, her devoted caretaker.
These cherished moments deeply impacted her, causing a profound shift in her perspective on the fate that awaited her.
Riko’s heart softens as the escort mission unfolds, revealing a yearning for a life filled with meaningful relationships and genuine pleasure in the company of others.
The journey she took, surrounded by newfound companions, was crucial to her transformation as she began to question her fate and seek a future she could control and make her own.
Gojo and Geto were appointed to escort the Star Plasma Vessel to Master Tengen unharmed because two organisations, the Curse User Group Q and the Time Vessel Association, were hunting her down.
Gojo and Geto effortlessly defeated the Q-group assassins, showcasing their formidable skills. They were, however, unaware of the cunning strategy devised by the Time Vessel Association to track down Riko Amanai and assassinate her.
As the plot thickened, the two powerful sorcerers found themselves in a perilous and unpredictable situation where the true challenge lay ahead.
The Association attempted to destroy the vessel because they held Master Tengen in high regard as an almost heavenly being. They were concerned that the fusion with the vessel would jeopardise Master Tengen’s esteemed image, so they violently opposed the merging.
To ensure the success of their nefarious plan, the Time Vessel Association made a sinister move by hiring the notorious Sorcerer Killer, Toji Fushiguru, to target Amanai.
They even went to the extent of placing a bounty on Riko, making it easier for Toji to confront Gojo and Geto, thus creating an opening that would facilitate his ruthless assassination of Amanai.
With Toji in the equation, the situation became even more perilous for our powerful sorcerers, Gojo and Geto.
Toji was hiding in the shadows, waiting for the ideal opportunity to attack while Gojo, Geto, Riko, and Kuroi enjoyed their escort operation amid the calm beauty of Okinawa. Toji plotted his diabolical move, preparing to unleash havoc and turbulence on their seemingly calm mission, patiently waiting for an appropriate opportunity when their defences were down. The idyllic backdrop disguised the oncoming threat, setting the stage for an intense and unexpected clash.
Throughout the perilous journey, Gojo and Geto displayed their competence, assuring Riko’s safe passage to Master Tengen’s sanctuary. However, just when it appeared to be a successful conclusion, an unforeseen twist emerged, changing the entire course of the plot.
Toji Fushiguro actually managed to outmatch the two blessed sorcerers of Jujutsu High School during the Star Vessel assassination mission.
Toji planned a surprise attack on the user of ocular jujutsu, the prestigious Six Eyes, Gojo Satoru, within the barriers of Jujutsu High. He fatally injured him at first, then killed the star plasma vessel, Riko Amanai.
All attempts to protect Amanai came to nought as Toji barged in, undeterred. Their endeavours to shield Amanai proved fruitless as Toji breached their defences.
Viewers are deeply concerned about Riko’s fate. In the world of Jujutsu, anything can happen, and death is not always a definitive end.
This concern is grounded in a significant incident where Sukuna, in possession of Itadori’s body, forcefully removed the heart, seemingly leading to Itadori’s demise. However, against all odds, Itadori was miraculously brought back to life through mysterious means.
Considering this past occurrence, viewers are left to wonder if a similar twist of fate awaits Riko. While the circumstances may differ, the possibility of her resurrection through the intervention of a powerful curse or mystical force remains a lingering hope.
In the unpredictable and mystifying realm of Jujutsu, nothing can be ruled out, and the suspenseful question of Riko’s true fate continues to captivate and haunt the minds of the audience.
But let’s be honest here.
Riko dies, for real, after getting shot in the head by Toji.

Following a gruelling and harrowing battle with Gojo that ultimately culminated in his demise, Toji proceeded to the main hall of the Tombs of the Star, where Geto and Riko were in the midst of a heartfelt exchange.
Riko had experienced isolation and the sensation of being outside of everyone else her whole life.
She convinced herself that leaving everyone behind would be the best course of action after losing her parents.
But as the escort mission unfolded and the time she spent with them, something inside of her started to stir.
She eventually revealed her actual sentiments as tears started to fall down her cheeks.
Geto extended a compassionate offer to Riko, giving her the choice to reject the merger and return home with their unwavering protection by her side, regardless of her decision.
Just as a tender moment between Geto and Riko was about to unfold, tragedy struck suddenly and violently. Toji interrupted with a heartless act, firing a fatal bullet into Riko’s head, and she fell lifeless to the ground.
The unexpected twist crushes any hope of a peaceful ending, leaving everyone in profound shock and sorrow over the heartbreaking loss of an important character.
