Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 7 begins with the Episode 6 cliffhanger where Tanjiro was after the running Upper Moon 4 demon, Hantengu and about to decapitate the main host body.
Tanjiro finally catches up to the tiny Hantengu host body and uses Nezuko’s blood-infused energy into his katana.
He swings the glowing hot red-pink flamed katana and makes direct contact with Hantengu, who shrieks in pain.
Suddenly, Tanjiro feels an unusual presence behind him. Something that smells, unlike the other 4 emotion demons.
He makes cutting Hantengu’s head off his urgent priority to battle against the tense situation lingering behind him.
Hantengu’s head is too hard to cut and the effect of Nezuko’s blood on his katana has also worn off.
Genya is afraid to shoot the demonic presence because he might hit Tanjiro.
The demon conjures a weapon out of his hand and attacks Tanjiro with a beat of a drum.
The attack summons gigantic wooden dragon heads, trying to munch Tanjiro to death while he avoids them with insane mid-air acrobats.
Nezuko comes to Tanjiro’s rescue while losing her arm and leg to a gnarly bite, but she heals up.
Finally, we get to see Hantengu’s manifested form of Hatred.
Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 7 Ending Explained: Who is Zohakuten?

Genya saw Sekido (Anger demon) use a blood demon art to brutally absorb Karaku (Pleasure demon), Urogi (Joy demon) and Aizetsu (Sorrow demon) to transform or merge into a new demonic form known as Zohakuten.
Zohakuten wraps the main host body, Hantengu in order to protect.
The demonic energy in Zohakuten is so intense that Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya can’t snap out of it.
Both Tanjiro and Zohakuten exchange words about who is the true villain. Zohakuten claims that chasing Hantengu with the intent to kill is like an evil diabolical deed of tormenting the weak. Tanjiro shares his sentimental thoughts on the number of people Zohakuten has killed and how his own nature of doing is unforgivably twisted.
This infuriates Zohakuten while Tanjiro is fired up in belief to cut him down. Both of them lash out at each other.
Meanwhile, Muichiro Tokito is still stuck inside Gyokko’s water vase demon art.
Gyokko’s curiosity for the miserable shack made him leave Tokito to suffer and die.
Tokito tries using Mist Breathing First Form: Low Clouds, Distant Haze with his last breath, but he can’t break free. At the state of giving up, he pictures Tanjiro in front of him, who gives Tokito a few words of encouragement.

Gyokko finds amusement in the shack by attacking Kozo Kanamori, who tries to protect Hotaru Haganezuka.
Hotaru is unbothered and super focused on sharpening Tanjiro’s new katana.
He constantly talks about how amazing the steel of this katana is and why there is only one letter carved on it.
Gyokko gets agitated by no response from Hotaru and begins to attack, which still had no effect.
Gyokko breaks Hotaru’s mask, and we get to see Hotaru unmasked, who still refuses to stop.
Hotaru Haganezuka confirms that the letter was carved on the katana for a sole purpose.
Meanwhile, Tokito begins self-realizing his true potential as a Hashira at the brink of death.
Kotetsu keeps stabbing a knife in vain to save Tokito from the water vase prison.
Suddenly, a small fish demon out of nowhere stabs Kotetsu in a vital spot.
Kotetsu trying to get a hold of himself walks to the water prison and shares his breath with Tokito.
Muichiro uses that to summon Mist Breathing Second Form: Eight-layered Mist! and dices his way out.
The episode ends with Tokito finally being out of the water vase prison and him recalling a memory of his father having the same eyes as Tanjiro. This does not conclude that Tokito thinks of Tanjiro as a father figure, but it leaves us the impression that he might have to meet certain expectations for the preying eyes to become a true Hashira.

What to expect from Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 8?
In the next episode, we might see a head-on battle between Tanjiro vs Zohakuten or Tokito vs Gyokko.
Nezuko and Genya will also try to fight off Zohakuten along with Tanjiro as a tag team but it seems Tanjiro might be forced to fight him alone in the end with whatever he got left in him.
Maybe it’s time Mitsuri Kanroji shows up to help Tokito fight Gyokko.
Hotaru Haganezuka may also pull up with the finished katana to aid Tanjiro in decapitating Zohakuten.
We still haven’t witnessed the real demonic power of Zohakuten.
There are so many possible outcomes. It won’t be an easy battle to win against him.
