First showcased in Episode 9, where Himeno’s contract Ghost Devil tried to fight Kantana Man to save her friend Aki.
Then later in Episode 11, we also see Ghost Devil with her new contract, that is, Akane.
Akane is the snake devil in Chainsaw Man, and in Episode 11, we see Akane using Ghost Devil’s contract against her fight with Aki.
As fans, you might be wondering what Ghost Devil’s powers are. And how did Aki defeat the Ghost Devil in Chainsaw Man?
Read along to know the details.
Who is Ghost Devil?
Ghost Devil is a devil which embodies the fear of Ghosts, and In Chainsaw Man, two people actually had a contract with Ghost Devil.
One was Himeno, who died in Episode 9 by sacrificing her whole body to save her friend Aki and the other one was Akane, who fought Aki in Episode 11.
The Ghost Devil has a large cylindrical body and large arms throughout her body.
Ghost Devil’s mouth and eyes are stitched shut, and most of the time, she tries to grab her opponents and choke them with her massive hands.
In Chainsaw Man, The Ghost Devil is considered skittish because she refuses to fight tougher opponents who can kill her easily.
For example, the time Himeno earlier told her to stop Kantana Man, she felt that both Kantana Man and Akane would be tough to defeat, so she initially refused, but after Himeno sacrificed her whole body in exchange for The Ghost Devil to fight for her, The Ghost Devil agreed fought Kantana Man and Akane.
What are Ghost Devil’s Powers?
Ghost Devil’s main powers are that she embodies the fear of ghosts.
Therefore, she has an immaterial body which cannot be touched by anyone else.
Also, she does not have any eyes because of the fact that her eyes and mouth are stitched.
She mainly perceives through her fear and attacks her opponent.
If her opponent does not fear Ghosts, then they can defeat The Ghost Devil easily because she cannot sense their movements.
The Ghost Devil have massive hands throughout her body with enhanced grip strengths which can be used to choke her opponents in easily, and that’s how she prefers fighting as well, using The Ghost fear and the enhanced strengths.
How did Aki defeat Ghost devil?
When Aki confronts Akane in Episode 11, the latter spawns the Ghost Devil to fight Aki, and Aki tries to fight her without using the Future Devil or the Curse Devil.
The Future Devil, which resides in Aki’s right eye, insists Aki use his powers, but Aki then ignores the Future Devil and tries to fight Akane with just the curse devil’s sword.
We see The Ghost Devil grabs him by his neck and tightens her grip, and it seems like Aki is about to pass out.
But Aki will not die so easily in the fight because Ghost Devil had a contract with Himeno earlier.
Himeno sacrificed her life to save Aki in the Kantana Man arc episode 9.
Therefore The Ghost Devil didn’t kill Aki.
Instead, she dropped him on the ground and offered him a cigarette written “Easy Revenge” on its body.
This reminds Aki of Himeno, who had offered him a cigarette when they were colleagues.
Then Aki recalled the moments with Himeno when she had told him that Ghost Devil could sense fear.
Once Aki stops fearing the Ghost Devil, Aki climbs up to her body and lets him decapitate her head using his sword.
The reason why Aki would do that easily is that Ghost devil lacks a sense of smell.
She only perceives fear of attacking opponents as Aki would stop feeling any fear. At that point, he would easily climb through her body and kill her.
