1899 season 1 just concluded on Netflix. Directed by the makers of Dark Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar in 1899 Season 1 was one of the best series of recent times.

In the finale, we finally see Maura waking up from the simulation and finding herself in space. She is then greeted by her brother Ciaran who has apparently taken over the program.

As revealed by Daniel, Maura’s husband, all of these are much bigger than she thinks it is, and she will have to confront her brother to save her fellow passengers such as Daniel, Eyk and others.

In our 1899 Season 1 Ending Explained article, we have already discussed how Maura managed to break out of the simulation.

This article will discuss the potential release of 1899 Season 2.

1899 Season 2 Release Date and Renewal Status: will there be 1899 season 2?

The 1899 Season 1 was released on 17th November 2022, so as of now, it is pretty early to tell whether the show will be back for a second season, but judging by the response that it is receiving, we are 100% sure that 1899 Season 2 will be renewed by Netflix for the second season.

Cause as of now, after watching the first season, we are still not sure what Project Prometheus actually is and why the others, such as Captain Eyk, Ramiro, Angel, Yuk Je, Ling Yi, Mrs Wilson, Clemence and Lucian, were a part of this simulation.

How did Maura develop the simulation, and what is the role of Maura’s father, Henry, and her brother, Ciaran?

Also, we are still determining what happened to Eyk, Daniel, Elliot, Henry Ramiro, Angel, Yuk Je, Ling Yi, Mrs Wilson, Clemence and Lucian as Maura escaped the simulation. The same doesn’t apply to the rest of the passengers onboard Kerberos.

So all these questions are still left to be answered; we have no other option but to wait for the renewal of 1899 Season 2.

Now, if we come to the release date of 1899 Season 2, we would probably have to wait till late 2024 or 2025.

What to expect from 1899 Season 2?

In the finale, we saw Maura waking up from the simulation and finding herself in space. She is then greeted by her brother Ciaran who has apparently taken over the program.

As revealed by Daniel, Maura’s husband, all of these are much bigger than she thinks it is, and she will have to confront her brother to save her fellow passengers such as Daniel, Eyk and others.

But most importantly, what was the motive behind project Prometheus? We know that Maura has built this project to overcome her grief of losing her son Elliot, and the sole purpose of creating the simulation was to spend time with her son inside the simulation.

But how did the rest of the people, such as Captain Eyk and others, end up in Kerberos? Plus, we saw Daniel stating to Maura that he would also be there she woke up. Does that mean Daniel has also escaped the simulation?

Daniel also told her that she must confront her brother Ciaran who has taken over the programme as she was stuck in the simulation; we are still waiting to see who played Ciaran in 1899 and how he is involved in all these.

Daniel also said if Ciaran comes to know that he had over-ridden the objects inside the simulation, then he would probably be compromised, so there are plenty of things to watch out for in season 2, and how Maura deals with all these is yet to be seen.

1899 Season 2 Cast: Who are the cast for the second season?

Well, as of now, the cast for 1899 season 2 is yet to be revealed, but we are definitely going to see some of the characters.

Ciaran Franklin: The list includes Ciaran, and the actor who will be playing Ciaran is yet to be revealed.

Maura Franklin: Emily Beecham will be back in season 2 as she is the simulation’s creator and the protagonist of the series, so she will portray the role of Maura Franklin.

Daniel Solace: On the other hand, Daniel’s role will be portrayed by Aneurin Barnard because Daniel has stated towards the end that he had tried multiple times to wake Maura up from the simulation, and this time, he was finally successful, and he will be there when she wakes up. Therefore we will see him in season 2.

Eyk Larsen: Eyk was put to sleep by Sebastian towards the end of season 1; most probably, he will wake up in the second simulation, so we will definitely see Andreas Pietschmann as Eyk Larsen in the second season.

Angel and Ramiro: The priest Ramiro and his brother Angel will also be back in 1899 Season 2, as they will probably wake up in the next simulation. Miguel Bernardeau (Angel) and José Pimentão(Ramiro) will reprise their respective roles.

Ling Yi and Yuk Je: Isabella Wei and Gabby Wong will also reprise their role as Ling Yi and Yuk Je, as Ling Yi we had seen was alive, and her mother Yuk had jumped from Kerberos earlier, as this is a simulation, so nobody will apparently die, so they will also be back in 1899 Season 2.

Jerome: Jerome was also seen alive towards the end of season 1, so he will also be back, and Yann Gael will reprise his role as Jerome.

Clémence and Lucien: The French couple was seen alive towards the end. Hence it is apparent they will wake up in the next simulation. So, therefore, Mathilde Ollivier (Clémence) and Jonas Bloquet (Lucien) will reprise their respective roles in 1899 season 2.

Virginia Wilson: Rosalie Craig was also seen alive towards the end of season 1, so Rosalie Craig will also reprise her role as Virginia Wilson.

Olek: Olek was also seen alive towards the end of season 1, so Maciej Musiał will also reprise his role as Olek; probably, he and Ling Yi will have a romantic angle in 1899 Season 2.

Tove and Krester: Clara Rosager plays the role of the pregnant german lady, and Krester plays the role of his brother. Both were seen alive at the end of season 1; hence these two characters will also be back.

Iben: Maria Erwolter plays the role of Tove and Krester’s mother. She has some mental disorder in the series, as she often hears voices inside her head. She was also seen alive towards the end of 1899 Season 1, so she will be back.

Sebastian, Henry: Henry is basically Maura’s father, and Sabastian is his right-hand man; from the start of season 1, they were trying to find the key which holds the exit code from the simulation, both of them were also stuck in the simulation, as Maura has exited the simulation, most probably we will see Anton Lesser reprising the role of Henry Singleton and Tino Mewes as Sebastian.

Elliot: Elliot is Maura’s son, and he is the sole reason why Maura had built the simulation so that she can spend time with her son, as Elliot was probably dying; hence I believe we won’t see him in the real world, but there is a possibility of seeing him in the simulation again. Therefore Fflyn Edwards, as Elliot, will also be back.

Anker: Alexandre Willaume plays the role of Anker, who is another priest. He will most probably be back in 1899 Season 2 as well.
