1899 Season 1: What happened to Eyk? Is Eyk dead?
1899 season 1 just concluded on Netflix. Directed by the makers of Dark Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, in the season 1 ending, we learned about the simulation’s original creator and why it was created.
But in episode 8 of 1899, we see that Sebastian killed Eyk with his controller device, but is Eyk dead? Or is he still alive and will continue in the next simulation?
1899 Season 1: What happened to Eyk? Is Eyk dead?

No, I don’t think Eyk is dead because none of these was real; they were just simulations.
In Episode 8, when Maura and Eyk go to the mental hospital to find the meaning of all these, such as why she can’t remember her past memories? Why would her father build something like this?
Plus, why was Eyk on the captain’s list and Maura’s on the passenger list in the Prometheus?
While trying to figure out all these, they were confronted by Sebastian, Eyk ‘s left-hand man on the ship.
Eyk and Maura were initially shocked to see that Sebastian was involved, and he knew all these from the beginning.
As revealed, Sebastian was working with Henry to end the simulation so that he and Henry could escape the false reality.
During that confrontation, Sebastian asks Maura to hand over the key, which holds the exit code for the simulation.
Once Maura passed on the key to Sabastian, he puts Eyk to sleep using the controller. To the fans, it seems that Eyk has died, but we are pretty sure he is not dead yet.
The simulation will probably start again for them, and this time Maura will play Daniel’s role to get them out of the loop.
But rest assured, Eyk is not dead. We would see him in 1899 Season 2.
Another assurance we can give Eyk’s fate is when Maura exits her dream and wakes up in the simulator. She saw Eyk also attached to the simulation machine, which means he is not dead.
