How is House of the Dragon connected to Game of Thrones?
As a fan of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, we often look for answers such as: How is House of the Dragon connected with Game of Thrones?
Based on 172 years before Game of Thrones, the House of the Dragon will show us the story of the conflict between Queen Rhaenyra and her brother Aegon II Targaryen because of which a civil war will occur known as the Dance of the dragons.
The Dance of the Dragons is known as the downfall of the Targaryen Empire.
It is said before the Dance, the Targaryen family had a total of 20 dragons, and they used to rule Westeros, but after the Dance concluded, 17/20 dragons died, and only three managed to survive.
All of them were wild dragons; hence, it is to conclude that after the civil war, most dragons were extinguished, and so did the Targaryen empire.
It is said that the Targaryen family were never the same as the DOD’s conclusion.

How is House of the Dragon connected to Game of Thrones?
The House of the Dragon first adopts a bit of Fire and Blood and a small portion of Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R Martin.
The series drops in the middle of the Targaryen Family Tree, 284 years after the Aegon’s conquest and 172 years before Game of Thrones. It is halfway between Aegon’s conquest and Game of Thrones.
When House of the Dragon begins, Viserys I Targaryen is the King of the seven kingdoms, and starks are still protecting the north and are the lord of Winterfell.
The major players in the House of the Dragons story are Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, the firstborn daughter of King Viserys and Aemma Arryn.
When Aemma died, King Viserys married Queen Alicent Hightower, the daughter of the hand of King Otto Hightower.
King Viserys and Alicent had two sons and one daughter, their firstborn son Aegon II Targaryen, second born son Aemond Targaryen and Helaena Targaryen.
During that period, Targaryen had rules that only King’s firstborn should sit on the Iron Throne, but King Viserys had already declared Queen Rhaenyra the Queen of seven kingdoms.
Hence there was a conflict between Alicent and Rhaenyra as Queen Alicent and her father Otto wanted their son Aegon II to be the King, but Queen Rhaenyra wasn’t ready to give up the throne.
Queen Rhaenyra married Laenor Valeryon and Daemon Targaryen (King Viserys’s brother).
She had five sons and one daughter: Jacerys Velaryon, Lucerys Velaryon, Joffrey Velaryon, Viserys II Targaryen, Aegon III Targaryen and Princess Visenya Targaryen.
When King Viserys died, Alicent Hightower made the King’s firstborn son Aegon II the King with the help of the King’s court, Aemond Targaryen, Criston Cole, and Otto Hightower.
This was the starting point of the conflict, and the House Targaryen got divided into two groups, The Blacks (people who supported Rhaenyra’s claim) and House Greens (people supporting Alicent and Aegon II’s claim).
Later on, when Prince Aemond Targaryen from the greens killed Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys Velaryon, the Dance of the dragons officially began.
