House of the Dragon: Who kills Lucerys Velaryon and his dragon Arrax? Did Aemond kill Lucerys? Is Lucerys dead?
In House of the Dragon Episode 10, ‘The Black Queen’, we have just witnessed one of the most tragic scenes in the series, which is the death of Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys Velaryon.
In the following episode, Lucerys went to seek support from Ser Borros Baratheon for the blacks as his father, Boremund Baratheon, during his time, had already sworn his alliance to Rhaenyra, but upon reaching Strom’s end, Lucerys saw that Prince Aemond Targaryen is already present and had already struck a deal with Borros by offering to marry one of Borros’ daughters.
It was done so that Borros could side his way with the greens instead of the blacks.

Borros was always a supporter of Queen Rhaenys Targaryen, as he was her cousin.
Burros’s father, Boremund Baratheon, had already sworn his alliance to Queen Rhaenyra when King Viserys named Rhaenyra as his heir, so the greens had already thought he would eventually support Rhaenyra and the black council.
Hence Otto Hightower and Alicent send Aemond with a proposal to marry any of Borros’ daughters so that Borros can side with the greens instead of the blacks.
On the other hand, Rhaenyra also sent Lucerys to the storm’s landing to get Borros with the blacks.
But by the time Lucerys reached the storm’s end, he saw that Aemond was already present and had struck a deal with Borros by agreeing to marry one of his four eligible daughters.
As we all know from the beginning of the series, Aemond doesn’t like his nephew Lucerys, as he is responsible for Aemond’s loss of one eye.
Aemond, upon seeing Lucerys wanted to fight him, but Borros couldn’t allow that to happen inside his roof.
Hence he dismissed both of them but seized Aemond so that Lucerys could get the time to get back on his dragon Arrax and ride back to Dragonstone.
Although this hasn’t been showcased in the episode, as per the books, one of Borros’ daughters, named Maris Baratheon, provoked Aemond by asking, “Whether Lucerys had also cut off his balls along with his eyes?”
Which angered Aemond even more, so what happened at the end of episode 10? Did Aemond kill Lucerys and his Dragon Arrax?

Who kills Lucerys Velaryon and his Dragon Arrax? Did Aemond kill Lucerys? Is Lucerys dead?
Yes, Aemond and his dragon Vhagar killed Lucerys and his dragon Arrax, and we can confirm that Lucerys is now dead.
After Lucerys had left the Stormland with his dragon Arrax.
Aemond persuaded Aemond with his dragon Vhagar, and he eventually managed to catch up with Arrax and Lucerys and kill them.
As per the books, Aemond, after killing Lucerys, also poked his eyeballs out and gave them as a gift to Maris.
Although in the episode, it is seen that Aemond did not intend to kill Lucerys, his dragon Vhagar went out of control and wanted to kill the other dragon, Arrax, for breathing fire in her face.
So as Vhagar gets enraged, she catches Arrax by surprise and chops Arrax’s head off with her jaw. As a result, Arrax and Lucerys die instantly; at the end of the episode, Daemon gives the news to Queen Rhaenyra that her son Lucerys is dead.

This will eventually be the start of the civil war, aka The Dance of the Dragons.
In the books, when Queen Alicent, Otto Hightower and the green council learned about Aemond’s actions, they despaired him, but Aegon II was delighted by his brother’s efforts. He threw a grand celebration in the name of Aemond Targaryen.
After this incident, Aemond Targaryen came to know as The King Slayer.
When Rhaenyra learned about her son’s death, she was devastated, and Daemon swore to take revenge on Aegon II and Aemond.
“An eye for an eye and a son for a son.”
Daemon swore to kill Aegon II‘s son Jaehaerys and sent his two men named Blood and Cheese to do the job.
They eventually broke into Helaena Targaryen’s chambers and killed the six-year-old Jaehaerys Targaryen.
Helaena eventually became mad after the death of Jaehaerys.
