Is Lord Corlys Velaryon dead? Or Will Lord Corlys survive?
The House of the Dragon Episode 8, titled “The Lord of the Tides”, reveals that Lord Corlys has been seriously injured as he led his men into an ambush.
Due to the injuries obtained, he fell seriously ill with a blood fever during 126 AC.
When Corlys’s wife, Rhaenys Targaryen, asked the Maester whether she would see her husband Corlys Velaryon, the Lord of the Tides, again and whether he will live.
To that, Maester replies, Corlys Velaryon led his sailors to an ambush, and in fighting, his neck was slashed by Corsair’s dagger.
Corlys fell overboard in the sea, the wound was severe much blood was lost, and the main concern was the blood fever that followed. Ship Maesters stated it burned from within.
While Corlys is being shipped to Driftmark, Rhaenys Targaryen and Corlys’ brother Vaemond Velaryon discuss who should inherit the throne of Driftmark and be the new Lord of the Tides.
Rhaenys says, as per Corlys’ wish, the seat should go to Lucerys, but Vaemond says he is the Sea Snake’s blood and the thrones belong to him.
So what happens to Lord Corlys? Is Lord Corlys dead? Or Will he survive? Let us find the answers below.

Is Lord Corlys Velaryon dead? Or Will Lord Corlys survive?
No, Lord Corlys Velaryon is not dead.
Corlys will survive the blood fever and recover around three years later, 129 AC, as he has a far more critical role to play during the Dance of the Dragons.
When King Viserys dies, Lord Corlys pledges his support to Queen Rhaenyra to support her cause.
It was believed that during Dance of the Dragon, Lord Corlys was one of the strong supporters of Rhaenyra, as most of the House Blacks’ army were Lord Corlys’ men.
Lord Corlys will also survive after the Dance of the Dragons, even after the death of Aegon II and until King Aegon III claims the throne.
He will be the Regent for King Aegon III, who was underage after King Aegon II’s death; hence, Lord Corlys ruled on his behalf.
So no worries, Lord Corlys Velaryon will survive and play one of the most crucial roles during the Dance of the Dragons.
Although it is good news for the fans that Lord Corlys Velaryon will survive the blood fever, at the same time, he will also lose one of his favourite grandsons, Lucerys Velaryon.
First, losing his daughter Laena, then his son Laenor and later on Lucerys will take a toll on his mental health; hence, he will show his support to Rhaenyra during Dance of the Dragon.
Also, Corlys Velaryon will learn that Daemon Targaryen killed his brother Vaemond Velaryon for insulting Rhaenyra and her children.
How will he react after knowing his brother was executed in King Viserys’ court? Well, we would have to wait for the remaining episodes for that.
