So whom do we think Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Realm’s Delight, will get married to in the House of the Dragons? Is it Ser Criston Cole, Laenor Velaryon, or Daemon Targaryen, aka Rhaenyra’s uncle?
Let us explore this in detail.
Who would Rhaenyra Targaryen marry in the House of the Dragons?
As per George R.R Martin’s Novel Fire and Blood, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen had two spouses: Ser Laenor Velaryon and Daemon Targaryen.
Rhaenyra married twice as per the Novel.
The first was Ser Laenor Velaryon. When princess Rhaenyra’s status of being the heir of King Viserys was challenged, Rhaenyra Targaryen had to marry Laenor Velaryon to join forces between two powerful, House Targaryen and House Velaryon.
This was done so that nobody could challenge her position of being the heir of King Viserys.
Princess Rhaenyra and Ser Laenor Velaryon had three sons, Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey, but as per the rumours, these three sons of Rhaenyra were fathered by her alleged Lover, Harwin Strong, aka “The Breakbones”, The City Watch Commander at King’s Landing.
These rumours were circulated because all three were born with brown hair, though Laenor and Rhaenyra both had light silver hair. (Reference: awoiaf.westeros.org)

The second marriage that Rhaenyra Targaryen had was with her uncle Daemon Targaryen, The Rouge Prince.
As per the Novel, after the death of Ser Laenor Velaryon and Rhaenyra’s Lover Harwin Strong, Rhaenyra developed a strong bond with her uncle Daemon. King Viserys tried to oppose this marriage as he didn’t want her daughter to get married to Daemon.
But they went on and secretly married each other this news caused a great scandal, and King Viserys was livid, knowing that her daughter had betrayed her. Still, later the King understood her daughter’s decision and negotiated with Daemon.
Rhaenyra and Daemon also had two sons, prince Aegon the Younger (120 AC) and Prince Viserys (122 AC).
Daemon Targaryen was also the one who supported Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen during the Civil War, aka The Dance of the Dragons.
Who was Rhaenyra Targaryen’s actual Lover?
As per the Novel, Rhaenyra Targaryen’s first Lover was Harwin Strong, called “Breakbones”, the Commander of City Watch in the King’s landing.
It was believed that Harwin Strong actually fathered Rhaenyra Targaryen’s three sons with Ser Laenor Velaryon.
And after Ser Laenor Velaryon and Harwin Strong’s death in 120 AC, Rhaenyra Targaryen fell in love with her uncle Daemon Targaryen, The Rouge Prince.
At that time, Daemon was 39 years of age, and Princess Rhaenyra was 23.
They secretly married one another as it was believed Daemon had already impregnated Rhaenyra before the marriage. And they also had two sons, Prince Aegon and Prince Viserys.
So, therefore, Rhaenyra Targaryen had two lovers, Ser Harwin Strong and Daemon Targaryen.
