Why did Billy’s brother Lenny commit suicide in The Boys? The Boys Season 3 Episode 7 also showed us the history of Billy Butcher and his brother Lenny Butcher’s life.

In The Boys Season 3 Episode 7, Mindstorm constructed a sneak attack on Billy Butcher.

Billy Butcher was the first to fall into the trap of Mindstorm, and hence he was entrapped in his subconscious mind with an endless nightmare.

The nightmare consisted of the darkest memories of Billy Butcher’s past, including his brother’s death.

We see that Billy also had a younger brother named Lenny Butcher, who committed suicide six after Billy left to join the army.

So Why did Billy’s brother Lenny commit suicide in The Boys? Let us find the answers below.

Why did Billy’s brother Lenny commit suicide in The Boys?

Yes, Billy Butcher’s brother Lenny committed suicide in The Boys.

He had to take this step because of the suffering and abuse Lenny encountered during his childhood from Billy’s father, Sam Butcher.

It was revealed in the series that Sam used to assault and torture his kids to make them strong mentally and physically.

Whereas Billy got used to the trashing and got used to it, Lenny, on the other hand, was fragile.

He couldn’t endure the pain and suffering anymore. So while Billy was there with his brother Lenny, he felt safe at home as Billy used to take most of the beatings from his father.

But later on, when Billy decided to join the armed forces and leave the toxic environment, Lenny pleaded with Billy and tried his best to stop his big brother from leaving home.

The reason is that Lenny knew if Billy left, he wouldn’t be able to survive the beatings of his father.

But Billy didn’t listen to his brother cause he was too self-centred then. He was desperate to leave the toxic environment.

So six months after Billy left, we see Lenny committing suicide as he couldn’t survive the trashing and beatings from his father every day, which took a mental toll on him.

When Billy Butcher tried to speak with Lenny in his subconscious mind for a brief moment, Lenny held Billy responsible for his death.

This was when Billy realised that he had also turned into a monster like his father, a self-centred, ego-maniac, abusive monster who puts his cause to the highest priority and doesn’t care about others.

Even when Hughie risked his life and temporarily saved Mindstorm from Soldier, he bought him to the location where Billy was so that he could be saved.

Billy convinced Mindstorm to help Billy, and as a result, Mindstorm saved Billy by waking him up from the dream.

After that, we saw that Soldier Boy had also arrived.

He trashed Hughie first for saving Mindstorm and then, later on, killed Minstrom with his shield.

When he trashed Hughie, Billy initially thought of protecting Hughie.

Still, later on, he put his priorities first cause he knew if he now killed Soldier Boy, then his revenge on Homelander would be incomplete, so he thought of not going against Soldier Boy then.

This also proves that Billy Butcher has turned precisely like his father, Sam.

Even when Starlight called Billy and warned him about the dosage of Temorariry Compound V, she stated that if the Compound V is used between 3-5 times, it can blow your head into “F**king Switch Cheese”, and she also warned Billy to stop using it and told him to inform Hughie as well.

But we see Billy didn’t inform Hughie anything. Instead, he again put his revenge first on the list than Hughie’s life and his.

This proves my point that as much as Billy Butcher’s father is responsible for Lenny’s death, Billy is also responsible.

Billy has turned exactly like his father, Sam; you will soon see him becoming an antagonist.
