Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Ending Explained and Spoilers for Season 3

Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 finally came to a peaceful end. Naofumi and his party successfully returned to their world after defeating Kyo and avenging the death of Spirit Tortoise and its soul, Ost.

The Shield Hero Naofumi is one of the four Cardinal Heroes summoned from another world to fight and stop the waves. Initially, he faced many hardships and was treated like an outcast for holding the Shield Cardinal Weapon, which everyone thought was useless.

But later on, through his efforts, he proved himself to be innocent and became stronger than any other Cardinal Hero. He also made some very close friends who would always stay by his side, no matter what.

Rapthalia, a half racoon demi-human and Filo, a Filolial, are his greatest allies and, needless to say, his family. Together they had very fond memories, some terrifying too, and many adventures.

At the end of Season 2, Naofumi, Rapthalia, Filo, and Rishia go to pay a visit to the Spirit Tortoise and their dear friend, Ost. They also recollect the memories they had with her and some happy moments with Kizuna, the Hunting Cardinal Hero, from another dimension.

Saying so, let’s look into what happened in the last episode of this season and then we can have some interesting thoughts about the Rising of the Shield Hero.

Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 13 Recap and Ending Explained

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 13 was titled “Flowers offered in recollection” and was very entertaining. Some of the very funny moments along this arc were recollected.

We also got to know more about how Kizuna, the Hunting Cardinal Hero, lived in the Infinite Labyrinth alone for many years before Naofumi, Rapthalia, and Rishia were sent there.

One day Kizuna woke up and found herself inside the Infinite Labyrinth. She was very brave but alone. She killed monsters there and levelled up. She also hunted her own food, fish, fruits, and sometimes monsters too.

Kizuna tried to escape from the Infinite Labyrinth in a boat and through the sea but could not. Later on, being alone depressed her, and she even attempted to commit suicide.

She was about to hang herself to a rope but thankfully gave up at the last moment. Later she found a ball of paper and drew a face on it, inserted it into a stick and put it on the ground. Whenever she felt alone, she talked to it.

And that’s how Kizuna survived for many years inside the Infinite Labyrinth. Later one day, she saw something falling from the sky and was overjoyed just at the thought that someone had come there and she would not be alone anymore.

Kizuna then met Naofumi, Rishia, and Rapthalia. The rest is the story that we already know.

Naofumi also made many friends, including the Heir to the throne, the queen herself, the weapons shopkeeper, and many adventurers who were inspired by the Shield Hero and wanted him to lead them in battle.

This journey was not easy, but nonetheless, Naofumi made it. Later he was tasked with stopping the Spirit Tortoise, a guardian spirit who maintains the balance of the world. But, Kyo, a villain from another world, killed the Spirit Tortoise and captured its soul.

Then the Shield Hero Naofumi, along with Rishia, Filo, and Rapthalia, went into that world to fight him off. They degraded down to Level 1, but after a lot of struggle and help from Cardinal and Vassal Heroes there, they were able to complete their task and return back safely.

In the last episode, Rapthalia and Rishia recollect the memories they had with Ost and Kizuna, where they teased Rapthalia, who desperately wanted Naofumi to recognise her. That was very funny and enjoyable.

Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Spoilers: What Next? Will the Rising of the Shield Hero continue?

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 ended with Episode 13. We do not know when Season 3 will release yet, but we can expect it somewhere by the mid of the year 2024.

A long journey still awaits the Shield Hero Naofumi. He must find a way to stop the waves permanently to be able to fulfil his duty as a Cardinal Hero and to be able to return back to his world.

In the Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3, the Shield Hero Naofumi will set on his journey to know and understand more about the waves. Since Kyo created the waves using the energy he stole from Spirit Tortoise, there might be something that is causing the waves.

So the Shield Hero must find it and stop it at all costs. Also, this won’t be possible without the combined efforts of all the four Cardinal Heroes. Hence all the four Cardinal Heroes, the Shield Hero, the Sword Hero, the Bow Hero, and the Spear Hero, must come together and bring an end to the waves.
