The Essex Serpent Episode 3 Recap: What happened to Jo?

The Essex Serpent Episode 3 starts with the fisherman of Aldwinter getting attacked by some creature in the water, and the creature ends up destroying the fishing net.

People now think that the Serpent really exists, and after the whole school incident in The Essex Serpent Episode 2, the people are even more concerned about their children.

Some even accused Cora of conveying non-sensical stuff to the children in school and accused her of fear-mongering.

Everyone wants Cora to stop going close to their children and wants her to get away from the town.

Elsewhere, Will’s wife, Stella, and Will are also concerned about her daughter Jo.

Jo was there in the school when in Episode 2, all the students got possed, and they blamed Naomi for everything; as Stella was there, the whole incident had left an impact on her, after which she stopped talking.

In The Essex Serpent Episode 3, Luke, along with Martha, also reached Aldwinter cause Cora had already filled them in about the whole incident in school and to understand it better, she would require some expertise from a doctor; hence she called Luke from London to visit her in Aldwinter.

After hearing about the whole incident in the school Luke as a doctor, tries his best to rationalize the children’s behaviour.

Still, as per Cora, there was nothing rational about their behaviour on that day.

They even visited the school, and Luke experienced the devastation in the school.

Mathew stopped them from visiting the school. He blames Cora for poisoning the kids with her heretical ideas and tells her never to come close to the children or the school again.

The Essex Serpent Episode 3 Ending Explained: What happens to Jo? and Did Will’s wife Stella see the intimate moment between Will and Cora?

Elsewhere Will tries his best to comfort her daughter to understand what is troubling her but cannot get any word from her mouth; therefore, Stella tells Will to talk to Cora once if she can talk some sense into her.

Will visits Cora’s house and informs Cora that Jo needs help and Cora says she will be able to help Will as her doctor friend Luke is here, and he can do a hypnosis session to understand what is troubling Jo.

Will agrees, and while leaving, Will notices Cora is without a coat, so he offers his coat to her in a romantic way, and the moment stays for some time which implies that Will is getting romantically involved with Cora.

On the next day, Cora and Luke go to Will’s house; Will was absent at that cause he went to meet Mathew in the church.

Luke tries hypnosis on Jo, and after that, Jo reveals that she, along with Naomi and Gracie, did some forbidden spell which has released the Serpent and currently, it is inside Naomi.

Jo thinks she is responsible for everything, which is why the Curse has been released now.

Jo tells in a hypnotized state that the Curse was supposed to be a secret, but now, as the Serpent has been released, it is attached to Naomi.

While the hypnosis session was going on, Will entered the room, and he saw Luke luring close to Jo, and he ended up hitting him along with saying some hurtful things to Cora. Both Cora and Luke leave Will’s house after that.

The next day Cora goes to Will’s house to explain what has happened so that he understands her, and both again end up having another intimate moment which now has been observed by Will’s wife, Stella.
