The Essex Serpent Episode 2 Recap and Ending Explained: What Happens to Naomi at the End?

The Essex Serpent Episode 2 showcases the aftermath of Naomi’s sister Gracie’s death. Cora decides to go and settle down in Aldwinter to investigate more about the mythical Serpent creature and, at the same time, investigate the matter of Gracie’s death. 

On the other hand, Dr Luke Garrett and Dr Spenser successfully manage to do a heart transplant on a 30-year-old Indian guy. 

 The Essex Serpent Episode 2 also showcases Will and Cora trying to find the truth behind the Serpent and the murder of Gracie.

The Essex Serpent Episode 2 Recap: Why did Cora shift to Aldwinter? 

After the end of The Essex Serpent Episode 1, The Essex Serpent Episode 2 starts with Cora waking up after a bad dream. Cora again dreams about her husband Micheal torturing her and wakes up, but she is then comforted by Martha. 

The following day, Cora tells Martha that she will be going to Aldwinter as there is a cottage for rent. 

She will go there to investigate more about the mythical Serpent and will also try to understand what happened to Gracie. 

Martha, Spenser and Luke try to stop Cora from going, Luke even insists on her going with him to London, but Cora rejects that offer and decides to settle down in Aldwinter for some time with her son. 

Elsewhere the plot now shifts to Martha, Spenser and Luke in London, where Luke and Spenser successfully manage to operate a cardiac surgery on a 30-year-old Indian guy.

Martha became sympathetic with the Indian family after comprehending more about their financial condition. 

She and Spenser decide to help the family financially and buy medicine for them free of cost so that they can go by for a few months and recover in time. 

In Aldwinter, however, people are not welcoming to Cora when she goes to pay respect to Naomi’s sister Gracie; the people at the hall give her a weird look which hints that they do not want her in the community. 

But Father Will, however decides to help Cora, and both try to understand more about the Serpent sighting. 

Will and Cora also seem to be liking each other. Cora revealed the truth about her husband’s torture. Will sympathised with her. Both were having a moment interrupted by a bizarre sighting of a flying boat in the sky that looked like a Serpent. 

The strange boat in the sky that happened due to refraction, Will and Cora try to understand the science about that, but the townspeople and Naomi and other children think it’s a Serpent. 

Therefore, Cora decides to explain the Serpent sighting to the kids at school.

The Essex Serpent Episode 3 Recap and Ending Explained

The Essex Serpent Episode 2 Ending Explained: What Happens to Naomi at the End? 

Cora also visits Naomi and her father’s house personally with flowers to pay her respect to Gracie, but Naomi’s father, Henry, doesn’t entertain Cora’s visit and even insults her. 

The focus then shifted to Naomi, who gets terrified after witnessing a seagull breaking into her house at night. 

Naomi thinks it is some sign which means the Serpent is coming for her after her sister Gracie. 

She and Naomi’s father was comforted by Will earlier when he stated that Gracie’s death was an accident; she drowned. 

There is no Serpent, but after the ending of The Essex Serpent Episode 2, it is evident that Naomi is very much disturbed and is facing anxiety issues because of her sister’s death. She believes that the Serpent is real, and it is coming for her.

Then in The Essex Serpent Episode 2, we see Cora finally trying to explain to the students about the Serpent sighting, but the students don’t seem to believe her. 

Suddenly one of the students gets possessed and blames Naomi for everything she is responsible for. Similarly, other students also get possessed and do the same. 

After all the acquisitions, Naomi also starts having a wild panic attacks. Her body shakes up, her eyes roll up, and it looks like she also got possessed by some being; after that, all the students and Naomi end up unconscious and fall to the ground.
