42 Days of Darkness is a Chilean thriller drama series based on the journalist Rodrigo Fluxam’s book, “You Know Who: Notes on the Homicide of Viviana Haeger,” published in the year 2019.

42 Days of Darkness revolves around a sister’s desperate search for her missing sibling. Cecilia Montes, played by Claudia di Girolamo, simply refuses to give up on her younger sister Veronica Montes, played by Aline Kuppenheim, after her disappearance.

When Was 42 Days of Darkness Released and Where To Watch It?

42 Days of Darkness was released on the streaming platform Netflix on May 11, 2022. 42 Days of Darkness Season 1 has six episodes that were released in their totality on this day.

Gaspar Antillo and Claudia Huaiquimilla have directed 42 Days of Darkness, while Claudia Huaiquimilla and Rodrigo Fluxá have written the screenplay.

42 Days of Darkness Season 1 Episode 1 is titled “These Things Don’t Happen Here.”

The series 42 Days of Darkness season 1 begins with a frantic Cecilia rushing towards her sister Veronica’s home, where Veronica has supposedly been found.

The episode then progresses in a flashback where we find friends and well-wishers of Veronica pasting her missing posters all over the town. It is a very peaceful place, and as the title suggests, these incidents are unheard of in this town.

The viewers are then taken to the fateful day of June 29, 2010, when Veronica had disappeared.

When Veronica, a mother of two daughters, Kari and Emi, fails to turn up at Kari’s school to pick her up, she gets worried. So, Kari rushes home and finds things scattered.


42 Days of Darkness Episode 3 ending explained: Mario frames Cecilia


She immediately calls her father, Mario Medina, played by Daniel Alcaino, who goes to the police station to report his wife’s kidnapping. A few days earlier, he had received a threatening call, and the caller had warned him about hurting his family.

The cops get into action, and search parties start looking for Veronica. Kari’s school friends and their parents, too, lend a helping hand.

However, Cecilia is shocked when Mario, who is a very reserved man, simply takes leave of them and goes to his room to sleep.

The cops try to track down the caller of the threatening call and release his photograph from the description of the owner of the cyber cafe he had called from.

The disappearance of Veronica piques the interest of a lawyer Victor Pizzaro, who sees this as a chance to boost his flagging career. So, with the help of his friends Nora and Braulio, he starts investigating this case on his own.

42 Days of Darkness Season 1 Episode 2 is titled “If You Vanished, What Would They Say About You.” The title of 42 Days of Darkness Season 1 Episode 2 is suggestive of the media’s role in the disappearance case.

With their imagination running wild, all sorts of theories were being dished out by the media. Not only this, but the press was also insensitive enough to stalk Kari was asking for her comments.

Kari is naturally distraught at her mom’s disappearance, especially because she is ridden with guilt for saying some hard things earlier to her mom. However, Cecilia reassures her that her mom is not angry with her.

The cops receive a letter suggesting that Veronica had an extramarital affair. Mario accepts that he knows about her affair but does not know what to do about it.

Meanwhile, Pizzaro meets Cecilia and suggests that she demand autonomy in Veronica’s disappearance case and be informed of all the proceedings taking place in this case.

As per Mario, the cops were not moving in the right direction and not even allowing him to help them solve the case.

Mario later receives Cecilia’s call asking him to meet her probably to appoint him her attorney.
