Is Wanda dead in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Wanda’s death in the Multiverse of Madness cannot be confirmed, but as per the ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it seemed like Wanda, aka The Scarlet Witch, died at the end. But is she actually died in the film? or did she somehow manage to survive? Well, let’s find the answers below.
At the beginning of Multiverse of Madness, Wanda’s original motive was to take America Chavez’s powers to traverse Multiverse to reunite with Billy and Tommy in some other Universe. Billy and Tommy were Wanda’s children whom we witnessed in the MCU series Wanda Vision.
Wanda was under the influence of Darkhold and discovered the truths of the Multiverse, and learned that she could reunite with her son Billy and Tommy in some other universe. But, for that, she needed America Chavez’s powers to traverse through the Multiverse.
In this movie, Doctor Strange’s primary motive was to save America Chavez and stop Wanda from spreading the chaos across the Multiverse. To do that, Doctor Strange required the book of Vashanti, which would enable him to defeat Wanda.

In the film, Wanda goes on a killing streak. First, she killed most of the warriors of Kamar Taj during her fight with Strange, after which, in Earth 838, she killed all the members of the Illuminati.
Like the Avengers of Earth 616, The Illuminati members were the protector of Earth 838.
The Illuminati members included John Krasinski as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, Patrick Stewert as Charles Xavier aka Professor X, Anson Mount as Blackagar Boltagon aka Black Bolt, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau aka Captain Marvel of Earth 838, Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter, and Karl Mordo as Darkhold corrupted Sorcerer Supreme.
In the film Strange and America Chavez ended up on Earth 838 after their fight with Wanda in Kamar Taj on Earth 616. After this, Wanda went to Mount Wandagore and used the powers of Darkhold and dream walked via the Wanda of Earth 838.
Dream Walking is one of such powers that can enable the user to take control of one’s other self from any other universe.
Wanda was able to do the same in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as she took control of Wanda of Earth 838 and went against the members of the Illuminati to get to American Chavez.
Doctor Strange and America Chavez held at that time were held in the Illuminati headquarters; therefore, Wanda went there and killed all the members of the Illuminati one by one to accumulate America Chavez’s powers.
After this, when America Chavez, Dream Walker Zombie Strange (controlled by Doctor Strange of Earth 616), fought Wanda back in Earth 616.
At that time, Chavez opens up the multiversal portal to Earth 838, where Billy and Tommy see Wanda of Earth 616 as a monstrous killer as she tries to kill Wanda of Earth 838 (Billy and Tommy’s mother in Earth 838).

After this, Wanda of Earth 616 had self-realization and acknowledged her mistakes, and in the end, to correct it, Wanda thought of doing the right thing by destroying Darkhold in every other universe and Mount Wandagore, where the Darkhold book was transcripted.
As Wanda destroys the Darkhold of every other universe, Mount Wandagore crumbles, taking Wanda with it. So based on it, it is assumed that Wanda of Earth 616 is dead in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it is still not confirmed if Wanda had actually died in the film.
Wanda has been showcased as very powerful in this film, so it wouldn’t be wrong to assume she survived in the end. Because after the mountain crumbled at the end, we saw one red spark, which suggests Wanda might have used some magic trick to save herself at the end.
As in MCU, we know that no death is permanent, so we cannot completely declare Wanda dead.
Also, as confirmed by Harry Bowls on Twitter, one of the most trusted sources for Marvel Insider news that Elizabeth Olsen had a contract extension with Marvel on FEB-22, and as per the deal, her contract has been extended for seven more years.
This also hints toward the long-awaited Scarlet Witch solo film, which was in the works with Marvel for some time. But nothing has been confirmed officially by Elizabeth Oslen or Marvel in particular.
Still, if that is true, then Wanda’s death in Multiverse of Madness is just a brief stop, and Elizabeth Olsen will surely be back as Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch, for sure in the following MCU films. We will wait for the confirmation for the same and will keep the fans updated on the latest development related to Elizabeth Olsen’s future in MCU.
Elizabeth Olsen on rumors about her 7-year contract extension with Marvel Studios:
"What? I never signed anything with Marvel. All I know is more Wanda is coming in the next few years, but never 7 years. But who knows, Kevin Feige has plans for the MCU in the next decade." pic.twitter.com/qHysvaqSj9
