Moon Knight Season 1: A brief recap of Moon Knight Episode 1?

As explained above, Steven suffers from a dissociative identity disorder in the Moon Knight series.

Whenever he is in trouble, he transforms into Marc, becomes Moon Knight, kills people, and returns to his normal form.

In Episode 1, we see Steven discovering that he has another personality named Marc which takes control of his body at times and transforms into Moon Knight

He discovers a cellphone in his apartment, where he notices many missed calls from Layla

Layla has been trying to reach Steve’s second avatar, Marc, but couldn’t do so.

In Episode 1 it seemed like Steve had this dissociative personality disorder for some time. Often or not, he turns to his other Avatar Marc and becomes Moon Knight and, after that, when he again returns to his conscious he doesn’t remember anything.

While talking to Layla, Steven realizes that Layla is addressing him as Marc, so he doesn’t understand why the woman is calling him Marc.

Then we also saw the Egyptian God Khonshu, aka the nocturnal “God of the Moon”, making the first appearance in the series and meeting Steve. Steve was horrid after coming in front of Khonsu. He didn’t understand what was happening.

Those who do not know about Khonsu, let me clarify that Khonshu was among the ancient gods of Egypt, and he was also known as the Gods of the Greater Gods.

We will know more details about the correlation between Khonsu and Ammit with the Ennet in upcoming episodes.

We also met Arthur and Harrow’s Cult in Episode 1. Arthur belonged to a group called Harrow’s Cult and ran a village in Europe. All the people there serve an Egyptian Deity named Ammit.

Arthur revealed a few things about the powers of Ammit in Episode 1; he revealed that.

Ammit is an old Egyptian Deity, and as per the comics, Ammit is a hybrid female creature with the head of a crocodile, the same we can also see in Arthur’s stick which he carries.

We can see a crocodile head on it, which justifies Ammit’s appearance.

Moon Knight Season 1 Ending Explained-Steve encountering Khonshu for the first time
Moon Knight Episode 1-Steve encounters Khonshu for the first time

Arthur revealed to Steve that Ammit got tired of waiting for the people committing crimes before punishing them. Instead, Ammit gave a fraction of her powers to Arthur, the scale tattoo on his arm.

Using that tattoo, Arthur uses a fraction of Ammit’s powers to evaluate who will commit a crime in the future and based on that; he kills them.

Ammit was later imprisoned for her deed by the old Egyptian god and was locked away, and only through a golden scrab she can be freed; the scrab, however, is in possession of Steve and Marc, which is why the Harrow’s Cult is following them.

Towards the end of Moon Knight Episode 1, Steve came across some Jackal Creature who wanted to kill him to take over the golden scrab.

Steve, this time gave up the control of his body to Marc. After which Marc took control of Steve’s body, transformed himself into Moon Knight, and killed the Jackal Creature.

The Marc character here actually is the Moon Knight. He was a mercenary once who was left to die in a desert; then, he was revived by The Moon God Khonshu.

Khonsu designated him as Moon Knight to legislate justice and protect those who travel at night. Marc also has dissociative identity disorder same as Steve. And he uses his alter ego to turn into Steve and be Moon Knight when required.

We will add a brief recap of every episode to our article every week. So till then, stay tuned to MediaScrolls.
