The Last Kingdom Season 5 has finally been released on Netflix. Based on ‘The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell, The Last Kingdom ending has left many fans asking questions like Who is the Osbert character last showcased in the finale? Who why he will be one of the major characters for the upcoming film “Seven Kings Must Die”.

The Last Kingdom Season 5: Who is Osbert?
Osbert is Uthred’s oldest son in the series. If you recall the moments of The Last Kingdom Season 3, you will remember that Uthred’s that time wife Gisela had died giving birth to a baby boy.
When Uthred returned, Hilda and Thyra, who helped Gisela give birth, revealed that her wife Gisela had died giving birth to a baby boy. That boy was named Osbert.
Osbert was also Uthred’s first name when he has baptized at the beginning of season 1. Then again, he was rebaptized in the name of Uthred.
So when Uthred returned and heard of his wife’s grave news, he named the baby boy Osbert.

Osbert was Uthred’s firstborn and after he was born. Uthred was again needed in Wessex on King Alferd’s commands. That time Uthread was going through a lot as well.
In Wessex, things worsened between him and Alferd when after the death of her wife, Gisela Uthred had burnt her body on a Pegan pyre that offended Alterd’s faith.
Also, one of the Christian monks named Godwin insulted Uthred’s dead wife Gisela that time Uthred had killed Godwin, which added further insult to King Alfred. Later on, Uthred was banished by Alferd; hence he didn’t get the chance to reconnect with Osbert.
Later on, when he returned from Wessex and reunited with his daughter Stiorra and his son Uthred, he found out that Osbert wasn’t there more and he had been adopted by the church and all these times Hilda was looking after Osbert which was revealed in Season 5.
Towards the end of The Last Kingdom Season 5, we finally see Hilde reunite Osbert with her father, Uthred.
In the upcoming spin-off film, ‘Seven Kings Must Die’ movie where Uthred (Alexander Dreymon) will be portraying the role of the protagonist.
We can expect Osbert to be one of the film’s major characters as Uthred’s firstborn and raised by the monks. His wisdom will be something which Uthred will be amazed by for sure, and for sure, during difficult situations, he will ask for Osbert’s advice.
