The authorities have found Eric Cresswell, and going through his past, Vanessa and Scott are going to uncover the truth about Leo Newman’s kidnapping.

One of the four suspects has got to have links with Leo’s kidnapping case, which is to be revealed in the finale episode. The kidnapper is sure to have some connections with Eric Cresswell as the same is seeking justice for Eric by asking Katherine to tell the truth.

Our take is that Tara could be one of the conspirators. She could possibly be Eric Cresswell’s daughter, who is out for revenge for the injustice done to her father two decades earlier by Katherine Newman.

The identity of her masked accomplices is going to be revealed in Suspicion Season 1 Episode 8.

A Recap of Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7

Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7 has been titled “Questions of Trust”.

At the beginning of the episode, we find a bearded man identifying himself as Eric Cresswell seeking help from a passing police car. He says that someone is trying to kill him.

The timeline then jumps to eight hours earlier, where we find Vanessa briefing Scott’s boss about Eric Cresswell’s background. She says that back in the 1990s, Eric Cresswell was disgraced and accused of having inappropriate relations with his female students.

The boss also enquires about the ‘asset’, by which he means Eddie, who is there with the suspects to extract inside information out of them. Vanessa informs that as long as they carry their bags with the tracking device in them, the suspects are on the radar.

Elsewhere, we find Tara and Eddie wondering about the whereabouts of Sean, who left the hotel without a word.

Aadesh later sees Eddie entering a restaurant and follows him. Eddie goes to the washroom and calls Vanessa, disclosing that they are all about to meet at Washington Park. Aadesh overhears this conversation and confronts Eddie.

Eddie hides the fact that he works for Vanessa. Instead, he tells Aadesh that he works for Katherine Newman and is here to find the kidnapper. He also adds that he knows that Aadesh is innocent and can help him prove his innocence. Aadesh takes away Eddie’s bullet phone.

Tara, Eddie, Natalie and Aadesh go to Washington Park, where Sean arrives in a van. Sean frisks them all and finds Eddie’s bullet phone in Aadesh’s pocket.

Aadesh says that he bought the phone at the airport. Sean doesn’t believe him but nevertheless asks them all to get inside the van after crushing the phone.

Vanessa gets worried for the safety of Eddie as his phone gets crushed and he stops sending signals.

However, she can still track them, thanks to the tracking device in Aadesh’s bag. Vanessa finds that Sean has taken them to a warehouse and asks for a backup team to take action.

At the warehouse, Sean finds gunmen waiting for them. When Sean realises that the shooters intend to kill them, he kills them instead. Using their phone Sean sends a message, “all clear, Tilson too”. Martin Copeland is later seen to view this message.

When the rest of the team confront him, Sean confesses that Copeland hired him to track Leo. He claims that he was not aware that Copeland wanted to kill them.

Sean realises that the cops are closing in on them. The cops find Sean’s van on the road and start chasing it. The later van parks near FBI headquarters, and the cops ask the driver to lower the window and throw the key out.

The van’s driver complies, and the cops find, to their disappointment, that he is an ordinary guy who was paid two hundred bucks to park the van at this location.

Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained: What Happens When Katherine Agrees to be Interviewed in Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7?

Elsewhere, at the Madison Park hotel, we find that Katherine Newman has agreed to give an interview to Nancy, and Copeland is upset about this. He says that Katherine is about to throw it all away.

We later find Neilssen warning her that Copeland is not trustworthy and that he has been in touch with one of the suspects.

However, the interview doesn’t go as Katherine had expected because Nancy knows more about Eric Cresswell than Katherine had expected.

Nancy tells, with the whole world watching, that in the year 1995, Eric Cresswell was commissioned by International Oil and Petroleum Energy to write a report on the climatic changes caused by fossil fuel emissions.

In his report, Eric Cresswell exposed the ill effects of fossil fuel emission. He even predicted the heat-related damages and fatalities that the world will have to suffer in future. He advised that the fossil fuel subsidies be diverted towards decarbonisation to save the environment.

Eric Cresswell’s report happened to interfere with the interests of IOP, a heavyweight client of CNPR, which was why his report was buried. CNPR hired experts to write favourable reports giving a clean chit to the usage of fossil fuels.

It so happens that Katherine had agreed for the interview to generate sympathy for herself but now lies exposed in front of the whole world as Nancy has directly accused her PR firm of corporate malpractice.

Towards the end of Suspicion Season 1 Episode 7, we find Eric Cresswell to be in the custody of the FBI.

We also see the team of five coming to the Madison Park hotel to confront Martin Copeland. They watch Katherine’s interview, after which Aadesh hacks the key to Copeland’s suite.

The team confronts Copeland while Sean asks for the money that Copeland had promised to give him. A visibly nervous Copeland first feints ignorance. Later, when he is just about to tell the truth when Natalie, all of a sudden, shoots him.
