A Recap of How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9

At the beginning of How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9, we find a Navy Captain cheating on his wife. When Sophie’s invisible and only audible son, in the year 2050, asks her why is she narrating this incident to him, she replies that its significance will be revealed later.

Valentina, considering her closeness to Sophie, immediately guesses that Sophie has kissed Jesse.
Elsewhere, Jesse too confesses to Sid that he has kissed Sophie.
Later, on realising that Meredith has her solo dedicated to him, Jesse goes on to meet her. Meredith tells him that she broke up with him as she wanted to rediscover herself. She also offers him the role of a piano player in her band and asks him to tour with her so that they can figure things out on the road.
Meanwhile, Charlie has invited the gang at Pemberton’s to watch a soccer game. Sid and Hannah arrive, but they are busy finalising the details of their double marriage. There will be two ceremonies in two different venues, one in Indian style, and there will also be an American wedding.
Hannah is obviously quite nervous and overwhelmed as she says that she is going to need two places to cry.
Ellen is busy deciding what to wear in her upcoming interview. Sophie is at Drew’s house to announce that she is breaking up. She finds that Drew’s parents are there.

When she discovers that Jesse has gone to meet Meredith, Valentina calls Sophie and asks her not to break up with Drew. Sophie hears the solo of Meredith and realises that the Jay in Meredith’s Jay Street refers to Jesse. Sophie, nevertheless, breaks up with Drew.

Sid is quite optimistic that Hannah’s residency is about to end, and very soon, she will be back. However, Hannah informs him that she has been offered a fellowship in California after her residency ends, requiring her to stay around for one more year.
When the soccer game ends, Charlie is visibly upset at the lack of interest everyone has shown in the game. He says that he misses England very much, and soccer is the only thing here that connects him to his homeland.
Valentina later helps Ellen select her interview dress and asks for her apartment keys. Charlie is pleasantly surprised, on visiting his apartment, that Valentina has filled it with various English stuff to make him feel at home.
At the end of How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9, we find Sophie waiting at a restaurant for Jesse when she gets a call from Naomi that her’ best shot’ has been accepted. We then find both present and future Sophies saying they are hungry and need a snack.
As the future Sophie goes to grab a snack for herself, we find her ‘best shot’ hanging in her living room.
