Along with the questions that will come to your mind, we will definitely learn about many conspiracy theories and details in greater depths in this article.

After watching The Batman, you will definitely feel that he has been portrayed as a fantastic detective. The extensive plot will definitely provide a more comprehensive view of the characters and their actions on the streets of Gotham City.

If you feel that the journey of Robert Pattinson’s Batman is over with this movie, then you are completely wrong. The film has built the perfect foundation for Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

To know more about the characters and details of the story, continue reading the article.

Warning the below information in the post will contain spoilers! so if you haven’t watched the film yet then we would recommend you to skip these portions.

The Batman Plot: What is it About?

Apart from Batman, who has received prime focus in this film, is Riddler (played by Paul Dano). He has successfully led the primary characters of the film- Batman and Lieutenant Gordon (played by Jeffery Wright) to get complete puzzled up.

The game has been really difficult for both of them to reveal some of the darkest secrets of the city of Gotham.

We will get to see a phrase in the film- “You are El Rata Alada.” This is later on somewhat translated, and it turns out to be a rat having wings.

The prime importance of this is that it states that someone from the underworld has been leaking some important information to the Gotham City Police Department.

Then there comes another important character in the film- Penguin. He faces a thorough investigation from Lieutenant Gordon and Batman. During this investigation, we see Penguin is bringing up a very critical observation to both of them.

The earlier mentioned words- “You are El Rata Alada.” are now proven to be incorrect grammatically.

If we take “You” to be as “U”, “are to be as “R”, and “EL” to be as “L”, then it actually comes up to URL. Thus, this is a riddle hinting towards a website that will give further clues. (elrataalada.com)

Coming to the second riddle about “rat with wings.” As we go through the movie, we will find out that this is actually a reference to Falcon.

He has also revealed that it was him who had killed Catwoman’s mother and Annika, her friend. Once Catwoman gets to know this, she thinks of shooting him. However, Batman steps into the scene and stops her from doing anything of that sort.

But unfortunately, we see that Falcon gets killed by being shot on the street. When Batman hands him over to the Gotham City Police Department, Riddler comes to the road and shoots him.

As we reach towards The Batman ending, we see Batman getting hold of a map. The map shows the underlying part of Gotham, and this is where he finds out the final message that Riddler has left behind. There are seven bombs planted around the seawall of the city.

Once these bombs blast, they will flood the entire city. Then there is also an attack on Bella Real. The Riddler army makes this attack. Batman successfully takes them down. While we reach the end, we see that an anonymous prisoner wants to team up with Riddler.

The Batman ending explained: What happens to Riddler?

If we see the movie, one thing will definitely strike our mind- the Riddler was always prepared for every step and every move. We see him be very careful and meticulous throughout the movie about all his plans and work.

But when it came to shooting Falcone, it seemed to be a bit clumsy on his part. You might think why he surrendered himself at the end, but there is a bigger plan behind all of this.

The police and Batman thought they were successful in capturing the Riddler, but then some other thing happened. There was a massive outbreak of all of Riddler’s fans over the internet. All of them united to stand up for him and fight against the people who had caught him.

Riddler has come up with the Renewal Plan in The Batman.

He had always wanted to bring out all the corruption that was going around in the city in the open.

This plan has helped him bring the city back to the line.

We are also given a flashback into Riddler’s life. He had spent his childhood in an orphanage.

He always had a grudge against people who said that they would help renew the city.

But ultimately, they started looting, and the needy people were left to suffer.

One among such influential people was Thomas Wayne.

In this movie, Riddler successfully showered light on the corruption going around in Gotham. He had intended to flood away Gotham, which Batman finally prevented.

What happened to Riddler’s army at the Finale?

When you watch the movie, in the beginning, it might seem very weird to understand how can Riddler gather an army of his own.

However, if you go through the entire movie, you will see that social media has played a vital role in helping him gather all his followers.

The Batman ending explained
Will Ridler’s army change the game of the movie? (credits: Warner Bros.)

His fan count on social media is seen to increase rapidly. All of them show their support with their comments and their views.

It is clear that Batman has always had his effect on the city of Gotham.

The Batman documents this effect beautifully. Batman was going to kill one of the goons in the army, but Jim Gordon stopped him there.

They then unmasked this goon, and this goon tells Batman to his face- “I’m vengeance.”

You might not recognize this person at one go, but if you watch the film a bit more intricately, this is the same person Batman had met at the funeral.

He shared similar feelings of discontentment towards the officials in the city, just like Riddler.

So we assume that Riddler had built a secret website where he used posts about all the secrets of the corrupt politicians on the website.

That is how he got in the notice significantly after his killings, and that is how he gathered followers.

Who is Carmine Falcone? and Did he kill Catwomen’s mother?

Carmine Falcone was one of the main antagonists in The Batman as he was the one who was ruling Gotham technically.

He was the boss of all the political leaders.

As revealed by Kenzie, one of the right-hand men of Falcone who also works in the Gotham GCPD, he revealed that Falcone is the one who is ruling Gotham, all these political rallies and election doesn’t matter to him as he controls everything because of his immense wealth and connections.

As we watch The Batman, we also find that Falcone is actually Catwoman’s father. Selina Kyle, a.k.a Catwoman, has brought it out in the movie that her mother was a dancer at a club that Falcone owns. She has told her that Falcone is her father.

Since Falcone did not want to get much involved and start a family, he ensured that he did not have to face any further problems.

So he strangled Catwoman’s mother to death.

He also tries doing the same with Selina Kyle but is not successful in doing so as Batman intervened.

Will Penguin now take over Gotham from Carmine Falcone?

In this film, we do not get to know much about Penguin’s equation with Carmine Falcone and Salvatore Maroni.

However, we will soon see a spinoff series coming up on HBO Max, which will primarily focus on The Penguin.

In The Batman ending, we hear the mayor’s voiceover, and we also get to see The Penguin’s actions.

All these imply that there will soon be a new crime lord in Gotham.

We will definitely be on the lookout for what we get to see in the new show coming up on HBO Max based on The Penguin.

What happens to Alfred Pennyworth? Is he okay?

The Riddler had sent one of his biggest surprises to Batman right at his doorstep.

This surprise was nothing else other than a bomb.

Now at the time this surprise appeared at the door, Batman was out protecting Gotham. Alfred received this package.

As soon as he opened it there was a massive explosion.

He is severely wounded but luckily alive.

In The Batman, we see that Alfred had kept many of Thomas Wayne’s secrets away from Bruce Wayne.

Hence there was a rift in between their relationship.

But later on, we also saw an emotional Bruce talking to the doctor and saying Alferd doesn’t have any family it is just him.

And also said the same thing to Alferd that he is the only person whom he trusts.

So he doesn’t want to lose him. Later on, we see Alferd is okay and keeping well at the end.

Is there any chance that we might see Joker and Riddler joining hands together in this Universe of The Batman?

Things might soon proceed in that direction where they might join hands together.

A prisoner at Arkham brings a question to Riddler. The question goes like this- “The less of them you have, the more one is worth.” To answer this, Riddler replies- “A friend.” (Noted GamesRadar)

Both of them then start laughing together in Arkham. It would be very obvious that we might see Joker and Riddler together in the upcoming movies.

This could also be the quickest way to set up the story of one of the recent comic books- The War of Jokes and Riddles. Thus both of them will join hands to bring an end to Batman.

What’s next for The Batman and Gotham?

Riddler wanted to bring out the corruption that is going around in Gotham. He has been partly successful in doing this, but a lot of work is left to clean the city’s crime.

If you want to know more about it, you will have to refer to the comic book series No Man’s Land, which was released way back in 1999.

If we go back to those comics, we will find that there has been a massive earthquake, and Gotham has been tremendously affected by it.

The city had been divided into several fragments.

This leads the crime bosses to exercise their power and control over these small pieces of land.

In The Batman, we have seen that Bella Real has become the new mayor of Gotham. In the upcoming movie, we might see Thomas Elliot as Hush, the bandaged villain.

Thomas Elliot had tried getting some personal information about the Waynes, which made him fall into a big problem.

Is there any Post-Credit Scene in The Batman?

Technically there is no post-credit scene in The Batman. However, we do see a farewell message from Riddler to his supporters on the website.

We see that there are several parts in the movie portrayed very vaguely.

We will see Catwoman and Batman parting their ways in separate directions in the very end.

After watching the movie, we will understand the distance that grows between them. Catwoman had always wanted to team up with Batman, but since he is totally against this, we will see them moving ahead in their paths.

If we go back to the comics, Catwoman has always been portrayed as an anti-hero. Hence this separation between the characters is not surprising for the audience.

When it comes to such super-hero movies, expecting a post-credits scene is not something that is unexpected. But Matt Reeves does not bring for us a post-credits scene.

In the movie’s final scenes, we see a scene that might also indicate farewell from Riddler. The words Good-Bye appear on the screen, and then soon after that, the address to a website appears on the screen.

What do we know about Hush at the End of The Batman?

We see that there is a picture of Thomas Wayne on a website, and the word HUSH is put on his face.

This seems to be a strong reference made to the comics.

If we go back to the comics, we will see that Bruce Wayne and Thomas Elliot were childhood friends.

Thomas Elliot had the wicked plan of murdering his parents and inheriting all their wealth. However, Thomas Wayne stepped into the scene and saved their lives.

This infuriated Elliot, and he eventually went on to join hands with Riddler. This is where it marks the beginning of Hush.

Is there a new Joker in The Batman franchise? And Who will play the New Joker?

Well, if we get to see a new Batman, then it is evident that a new Joker will also follow.

In this movie, the Joker is introduced.

Barry Keoghan is playing the character of the Joker in this universe of Batman.

Joker is currently kept behind bars in Arkham.

We hardly have any details of Joker’s past in this universe.

But he has a clown gang which makes us believe that he has already had his share of fights and terror.

We are sure that we will get to see more of him in the upcoming movies of Batman.

In The Batman, when we see Joker, we notice a few of his scars as well.

Joker’s laugh has always been iconic, and over here, we see that the laugh is different from all the ones we’ve heard earlier.

This particular laugh is more of a hyena kind of a laugh.

Do Batman and Catwoman join hands at the end of The Batman?

The things look pretty much the same as we had seen back in The Dark Knight Rises.

Catwoman asks Batman to join her in her quests, but he ends up refusing her.

We see that Catwoman proceeds in her direction and leaves Gotham behind.

Although she leaves Gotham at the movie’s ending, you never know; you might see her again in the upcoming Batman movie.

Catwoman is making her way towards Bludhaven, and over there, we all know from the comics that Dick Grayson will also be present.

The story for the sequel seems to be totally set. To know more about such movies, stay tuned to MediaScrolls.

The Batman Review: Our take on the film?

The Batman is definitely worth the watch. Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, aka The Batman, has done a phenomenal job of portraying the character.

Without a doubt, the film is one of the best works of Director Matt Reeves, The film was 2 hours and 55 minutes long, and there wasn’t a single moment in the movie where we thought this was taking lacking depth or the story.

The Entire 2 hours and 55 minutes of the film got us hooked till the end.

Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, was phenomenal.

Her deep chemistry with Robert Pattinson made their screentime more enjoyable for the fans as we know that Catwoman is Bruce’s significant love interest.

So in the forthcoming films of The Batman, we expected to see more of Zoe Kravitz and Robert Pattison’s chemistry on-screen as Salena and Bruce.

Coming to James Gordon(Jeffrey Wright) and Alfred Pennyworth(Andy Serkis), their performance has been excellent.

We saw Batman working closely with James Gordon to solve the murder, plus the interrogation scene where Bruce and Gordon played an act where Gordon helped Bruce escape from the GCPD headquarters is one of the best scenes in the film.

Lastly, coming to the antagonists of the film, i.e. Penguin (Colin Farrell), Falcone (John Turturro), and Riddler (Paul Dano), it will be wrong not to appreciate the outstanding performance of these 3.

However, we will indeed two of them in the following films. Paul Dano’s Riddler was the spotlight of the film, and his performance in the first part made things way more enjoyable on the big screen.

The back and forth game between Riddler and The Batman made things exciting on the screen.

Especially the last scene where Riddler shot Falcone at the end and that Batman realized the final answer of the riddle.

Plus, the creepy smile that Riddler gave while he was arrested by the Gotham police and saw Batman standing in front of him through the glass door just gave me chills as well.

Lastly, Falcone and Penguin’s screentime was pleasant, especially the chase and interrogation scene of Penguine was funny as heck.

I could go on and on will not stop talking about how good the film has been, so if we had to rate it, we would say it is a 95/100 easily.

We recommend you go and watch the film in your nearest theatres as soon as possible and avoid spoilers.
