Who is Anna?

The story basically revolves around Anna Whitaker, played by Kristen Bell, who is a heartbroken woman who is not sure if she has or has not witnessed a murder.

Anna Whitaker lives alone in a large house. She has lost her daughter, due to which her marriage has also ended. She is an alcoholic who keeps drinking wine and popping some pills. She keeps staring out of her window all the time.

On top of that, Anna also has a weird fear called Ombrophobia, a phobia that involves an irrational fear of rain.

Anna was not always like this, and she used to be happy and cheerful before she lost her daughter, after which her marriage was also broken.

She was a very talented artist with a happy family that she loved.

Now that we know who Anna is let us take a look at what really happened to her in ‘The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window’.

Recap of ‘The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window’

We see Anna Whitaker in a robe who starts making a casserole in the opening shot. After she reaches into the oven to take out the food, she remembers something and drops the food on the floor.

‘The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window’ definitely features a lot of wine and cracking casserole containers.

Anna often gets hallucinations about her past life, which keeps reminding her of the things that she does not have anymore. This makes her depressed.

Her hopes for a happier life arise when a new handsome guy named Neil Coleman, played by, Tom Riley and his nine-year-old daughter, Emma Coleman, played by Samsara Yett, move into the house across the street.

Anna hopes that her life will get better after that. Like every story, this changes after she gets to know that Neil has a girlfriend named Lisa Maines, played by Shelley Hennig.

When Anna discovered that Emma liked sketching too, she had given Emma a set of markers. But one day, she saw Lisa throwing away the markers that Anna had given Emma.

Anna then confronted Lisa and asked her why she was throwing away the markers. The two got into a fight.

In the evening of the same day, when Anna was casually looking out of the window and obviously, drinking wine, she witnessed what she believed to be Lisa’s death.

Anna at once called the police to inform them what she witnessed. After the police arrived, they told Anna that Lisa was at work and was not dead.

The information given by Anna is also called into question because of obvious reasons, that she was a drinker.

Anna dropped the matter that time, but with time, after talking to Emma, she realises that Neil might be Lisa’s killer. Emma once confided in Anna that her father had anger issues.

Is Lisa Actually Dead Or Was It Just Anna’s Hallucination?

As the story moves forward, we get to know that Lisa is actually dead. Anna thinks that Lisa’s death is connected to Neil’s anger issues and looks into the death of Neil’s wife to find any connection.

The official report said that Neil’s wife, Meredith died because of drowning. Anna also discovers that a week after Meredith’s death, Emma’s teacher was also found dead.

Anna then starts getting hallucinations of Neil killing them.

Who Killed Lisa or Chastity?

Later, it is revealed to us that Lisa was a con woman who tricked people into getting their money. Neil was just one of her targets. She usually targeted older adults to get their money.

Chastity also has a partner in crime named Rex Bakke, played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar. It is soon revealed that Rex was the one who killed Chastity. Rex is then arrested for his partner’s murder.

In the finale, it is finally revealed that it was Emma who killed Chastity. She had killed her mother, Meredith because Meredith was pregnant, and Emma did not want to share the affection with anyone else. Emma was also behind the death of her teacher in the past.

Emma is a crazy and psychotic girl.
