Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 21 Spoilers: What to Expect?

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 21 will be the start of the Rumbling. Episode 21 is titled ‘From You, 2,000 Years Ago’, where we will see Ymir Fritz’s memories and how she possed Founding Titan’s powers.

It will be revealed that Karl Fritz kept Ymir as his slave, forced her to engage in war with enemies with her Founding Titan’s powers and later on, Karl Fritz and Ymir had relations and forced Ymir to bear his children. They had three children Maria, Rose, and Sheena.

Also, when Ymir died, Kart Fritz had her children forcibly cannibalized Ymir’s body so that her Founding Titan’s powers could be passed on throughout generations.

In the present time, Eren will break the chains and call out Ymir and tell her that she doesn’t have to be enslaved anymore and need not obey Zeke or any Royal Family member’s orders anymore. Eren will also reveal that it was Ymir who led him here.

After hearing Eren’s words, Ymir will lend all her powers to Eren, resulting in the three walls Maria, Rose, and Sheena being shattered as the Colossal Wall Titans will start the rumbling and Eren will ultimately use the full powers of the Founding Titan.

What are the Titans in Attack on Titan?

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20 Ending Explained: Did Eren Manipulate his Father?

In Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20, Zeke takes Eren back to his father’s memories as Zeke believed his father was responsible for manipulating Eren and brewing the seeds of nationalism on Eren.

At first, in Grisha’s memories, Zeke showcased Eren how his father has used his job status as a doctor to develop a good relationship with influential people to be used when the time is right. Even Zeke told Eren how his father completely forgot he had a family outside the walls.

As we go by Grisha’s memories one by one, it is also revealed that Grisha had found out about the Reiss’s family’s hideouts a long time back, but he didn’t dare to kill the Royal Family and take the powers of Founding Titan at that time.

When we returned home that day, Grisha hugged Eren and cried. This particular memory of Grisha made Zeke realize that his father may not have influenced Eren and proceed with the restoration of Eldia’s like the way Zeke had thought.

The same day Grisha wrote a note for Eren in the diary, Zeke saw his father for the first time mourning his wife, Dina Fritz. He even acknowledged that he shouldn’t have forced his political ideologies on his son Zeke.

Zeke, after witnessing this, had understood Grisha was never the way he had imagined.

Later, when Zeke sees Eren brutally murdering Mikasa‘s kidnappers, Eren himself reveals to Zeke that their father Grisha has never forced Eren to do anything; he was born this way, and he wouldn’t have let anyone take away his freedom.

Then we see the day when Grisha gathered the courage and confronted the Reiss family for stealing the memories of all the subjects of Ymir and begged their help to stop the attack on the wall Maria.

But the Royal family didn’t listen to any words. That time Grisha had to make a choice he didn’t find any other way to liberate them, so he had to murder all the members of the Royal Family and take their powers, but he didn’t have the courage to kill the little children he threw his knife away.

Then we see Eren Yeager from the future reminding his father of his responsibilities; the sacrifice of his wife Dana Fritz, Eren Kruger and others has made.

Eren manipulates Grisha to kill the Royal Family members and take away the power of Founding Titan, and after witnessing this, Zeke finally understood all of this was Eren’s doing. He was the one who manipulated his father to take the Founding Titan’s powers from the Reiss family and kill them.

Even after Grisha had killed all the Royal family members, he goes out of King of Wall’s base; he sees his son Zeke and hugs him and asks for forgiveness, and then he reveals it was all Eren’s doing.

He was behind them and told Zeke that he had seen the future of all the destruction and bloodshed that was about to happen; he said Zeke to stop Eren anyhow possible.

So how did Eren manage to manipulate Grisha?

When Grisha went to King of Wall’s base and confronted King Reiss’s family, Frieda at that time was the holder of Founding Titan; she told Grisha that even if he gets Frieda’s founding Titan’s powers, Grisha won’t be able to use it.

Grisha Yeager replied he knew that, but his ultimate goal here is to take the Founding Titan’s powers out of Royal Family’s hand, and he also revealed that the holder of Attack Titan could see through the memories of its inheritors.

This means Eren, who is the last and final user of the Attack Titan, has influenced the course of action of the previous Attack Titan users.

If you remember Attack on Titan Season 3, you would be able to recall when Eren Kruger and Grisha’s discussion where Kruger mentioned Eren, Mikasa and Armin’s names; why he could tell those names is because of the unique traits of an Attack Titan.

So ultimately, Eren Yeager was the one who influenced the course of action for each Attack Titan’s inheritor.

Even when Grisha didn’t dare kill children, Eren spoke to his father and reminded him of his responsibility. After that, only Grisha defeated Frieda’s Attack Titan and took the Founding Titan’s powers.

So if it wasn’t for Eren’s memories meaning if Eren wouldn’t have had the Attack Titan’s powers, Grisha’s confrontation with the Royal Family would have turned out differently.

After Grisha had defeated Frieda’s Founding Titan and killed all the Royal family members, Grisha had a second thought. After meeting Zeke, he informed him about the twisted plan Eren had on his mind.

He informs Zeke that he has seen the future and Eren’s plan will only bring destruction to both Eldians and Marleyans, so he tells him to stop Eren in any way possible.
