Recently released, All of Us Are Dead Season 1 is a teen horror drama revolving around a human-created zombie apocalypse like situation in a South Korean City called Hyosan.
In its totality, the twelve episodes long inaugural season of All of Us Are Dead Season 1 landed on the streaming platform Netflix on January 28, 2022.
Based on the Naver webtoon, “Now at Our School”, by Joo Dong-geun, All of Us Are Dead Season 1 has been directed by Lee Jane-kyoo and Kim Nam-su. All of Us Are Dead Season 1 ending left many unanswered questions, with many of the main characters dead and some of them surviving this ordeal.

All of Us Are Dead Season 1 Plot
The story of All of Us Are Dead Season 1 begins in the Hyosan High School, where a group of senior students brutally bully the hapless students. When Lee Byeong-chan (played by Byeong-cheol Kim), who is the science teacher at the school, discovers that the group is bullying his son, he tries to develop a virus that is supposed to give extraordinary powers to its host.
The outcome, however, is not as expected, and Lee Byeong-chan’s son starts transforming into a zombie.
When Kim Hyeon-ju, one of the bullies, gets bitten by a hamster that is infected by the deadly virus, Lee Byeong-chan realizes the consequences and keeps her captive in the science lab. Hyeon-ju, however, manages to break free and bites the school nurse.

The nurse spreads the virus inside the school while Hyeon-ju spreads it in the hospital that he is taken to.
Song Jae-il, the officer involved in investigating the disappearance of Lee Byeong-chan’s son, arrests Lee Byeong-chan and interrogates him. Meanwhile, the remaining classmates try to find shelter amidst the sudden chaos.
After Lee Cheong-san, played by Yoon Chan-young, gets separated from the rest of his group by mistake, he sees Yoon Gwi-nam, played by Yoo In-soo, killing the principal of their school and records it.
When Gwi-nam finds out about the video, he rushes behind Cheong-san but gets attacked by a zombie in the process. However, what is strange about this is the fact that Gwi-nam does not get turned into a zombie after the attack. Instead, he turns into a species that Dae-su later calls halfbies, which are neither humans nor zombies.
Elsewhere, Byeong-chan reveals to Jae-il that though Byeong-chan could not manage to find an antidote for the virus, he had a record of all his research in his laptop. Special forces are sent to the school to retrieve the laptop.
When some students begin to attack the special forces, the soldiers are forced to return, leaving the rest of the survivors in the school.
When even the scientist working for the military cannot create an antidote for the virus, the military commander finally decides to bomb the zombies to prevent the virus from spreading into other parts of the country, leaving the survivors at the school running for their lives.

Owing to her heightened hearing ability, Choi Nam-ra, played by Cho Yi-hyun, find out about the governments plan to bomb the school.
Meanwhile, Gwi-nam continues to hunt Cheong-san and tries to kill him several times. Realizing that there is no way for him to escape death, Cheong-san decides to act as bait and distracts the zombies in order to protect his classmates.
Even though some of the zombies fall prey to Cheong-san’s plan where he throws the zombies into a deep hole, Nam-ra manages to survive once again, still wanting to kill Cheong-san. The two keep fighting till the bombing in the end, till the explosion leaves the place covered in ash.
The end of All of Us Are Dead Season 1 shows Cheong-san laying presumably dead among all the zombies. Even though the All of Us Are Dead Season 1 shows a lot of evidence to prove that Cheong-san is dead, nothing can be claimed for sure.
Cheon-san has managed to slip away from death several times throughout the season, and there is a high possibility of him still being alive. This mystery behind Cheon-san’s survival will be solved in All of Us Are Dead Season 2.
