When Will Our Beloved Summer Season 2 Be Released, and Who is Going To Be In It?
Our Beloved Summer Season 1 landed on Netflix and SBS TV on December 6, 2021.
Our Beloved Summer Season 1 had a total of sixteen episodes, with each episode having a runtime of around 60-70 minutes each. Our Beloved Summer Season 1 finale episode was released on January 25, 2022.
SBS TV is yet to announce the release of Our Beloved Summer Season 2 officially. Though the inaugural season ended on a conclusive note, the immense popularity and the massive viewership that the show has received is bound to motivate the creators to release Our Beloved Summer Season 2.
Previously we have seen other Korean shows like ‘Kingdom” and “Love Alarm” being renewed because of their popularity.
Our Beloved Summer’s success resulted in the release of a webtoon, which is a prequel to the series depicting the time when the lead characters were in high school. Based on this, we can safely assume that a sequel will land as well, showcasing the married life of the protagonists.
After spending a few months in pre-production and production, we can expect Our Beloved Summer Season 2 to release by the beginning of 2023.
With regards to the cast of Our Beloved Summer Season 2, along with the protagonists Choi Woo-Shik as Choi Ung and Kim Da-mi as Kook Yeon-soo, we can expect to see Kim Sung-Cheol as Kim Ji-ung, Ahn Dong-goo as Ga Eun-ho, Roh Jeong-eui as NJ and Jung Kang-hee as Chang-sik are likely to make a comeback.
Ung’s parents, Choi Ho and Lee Yeon-ok, played by Park Won-sang and Seo Jeong-Yeon, respectively, are also likely to reprise their roles in Our Beloved Summer Season 2.
The Plot of Our Beloved Summer Season 1
Our Beloved Summer Is a feel-good story about Choi Ung and Kook Yeon- soo who loved each other while in high school and had also starred together in a popular documentary. However, due to the deep-seated insecurities of Yeon, and the casual attitude of Ung, the pair breaks up.
Fate, however, has other plans for the duo who have to face each other once again in front of the camera. Since their high school days, they have come a long way, with Ung presently a successful illustrator and Yeon a no-nonsense PR executive.
Their friend Ji- Ung is the documentary’s creator, and it turns out that he has certain feelings for Yeon. At the same time, NJ, a famous celebrity, nurtures soft feelings for the artist Ung.
As the show moves between past and present, we are made familiar with the characters. Ung tries to fight his bitterness with Yeon for their break-up.
Our Beloved Summer Season 1 Ending Explained
In the ending of Our Beloved Summer Season 1, we find Ung deciding to become a better person and a better artist by relocating to Paris. He wishes Yeon to be at his side when he takes this life-changing decision.
Yeon, however, decides to follow her heart and stays back. This, though, is not a bitter break-up as both of them promise to keep in touch and wait for one another.
At the same time, we find Ji-ung clearing out some of his old baggage. He visits his mother at the hospital, where his mother tries to explain why she had abandoned him. Ji-Ung, however, is not pacified and says that he will never be able to forgive her, yet she will always remain his mom. He even films a documentary about his favourite moments with his mom.
Later during the ending of Our Beloved Summer Season 1, we find Ji-Ung making more films and in a much better position. He also appears to be over his crush on Yeon.
Ung ultimately returns and proposes to Yeon, which she accepts. Ji-ung suggests that they create another docu-series.
