Created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the newly released sitcom, How I Met Your Father is a standalone sequel to the popular show How I Met Your Mother. The first two episodes of How I Met Your Father were released simultaneously on Hulu on January 18, 2022.
Following the format of the sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, at the beginning of the show, we find Sophie going down memory lane and telling her son the story of how she met his father. A Recap of Episodes 1 and 2 of How I Met Your Father Season 1
The first two episodes of How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2 have been titled “Pilot “and “FOMO”.
Sophie begins her story from where she is out to meet her tinder date Ian, a marine biologist.
On the way, Sophie befriends the cab driver Jesse and his friend Sid. Sophie, who is bubbling with enthusiasm, tells them about how perfect Ian is for her. Sid also discloses that he is going to propose to his girlfriend. We also realize that Jesse has developed certain feelings for Sophie.

They both decide against a long-distance relationship and decide to move on.
On returning to her apartment, Sophie’s roommate, Valentina, informs her that her boyfriend, Charlie, is moving in with them.
Sophie decides to call Ian to discuss if their long-distance relationship stands a chance but finds that her phone got switched with that of Sid’s.
Along with Valentina and Charlie, Sophie goes to Sid’s bar to get her phone back, where they find that Sid and Hannah are getting engaged. After the engagement, they all head for the airport as Hannah has to go to Los Angeles for an assignment.
At the airport, Sophie meets Ian, who is boarding a flight to Australia and proposes pursuing a long-distance relationship, only to be disregarded by Ian.
In the second episode of How I Met Your Father Season 1, we find a visibly shaken Sophie trying desperately to move on. Valentina informs Sophie that the intimidating presence of Charlie is disturbing her, and she is contemplating a breakup.
Sophie suggests that Charlie will give Valentina more space only after he makes more friends of his own. For this, Sophie invites Jesse and Sid to a club called FOMO, where she hopes that Charlie can befriend Jesse and Sid.

Jesse arrives at the club with Sid and his adopted sister, Ellen. Jesse is delighted at the thought that Sophie desires a date with him. However, when he finds Sophie receiving Ian’s message and realizes that this meeting was arranged for Ian’s sake, he understands that Sophie is not interested in him.
When Valentina reveals to Charlie the reason behind this meeting, he gets angry and storms off. Valentina again meets Charlie at Sid’s bar, where after a heart to heart Charlie acknowledges Valentinas need to have some space of her own. He suggests that he move out of her apartment.
Sophie also meets Jesse at Sid’s bar to apologize for standing upon him. However, she clarifies to Jesse that at this point, they can just be friends as after a string of disastrous relationships, she is yet to prepare herself for a new one.
The fact that Sophie typed a reply to Ian’s message but later decided against it and deleted the reply shows that she is trying to move on.
