Attack on Titan fans was up in arms when it was revealed that Hange may have died in the manga. While there has been no confirmation yet for the anime, many believe that her death is only a matter of time before we will witness Hange Zoë’s death in the anime series as well.
So what do we know about her fate so far? And what could it mean for the rest of the characters? Let’s take a closer look at this possibility and explore some of the major implications it would have on the show.
Did Hange die in Attack on Titan?
Yes, HangeZoe, one of the brightest members of the Survey Corps, died in the final chapter of Attack on Titan when the Rumbling starts.
Hange sacrificed her life to save her comrades as the Rumbling of Colossal Titans(Wall Titans) starts. First, she flew a plane to save all her comrades; she noticed Armin and her comrades were caught in the Rumbling.
Hange didn’t want her comrades and the Titan shifters to die, so, therefore, she thought of keeping the Wall Titans engaged so that her comrades could utilise that time to escape, which created an opening. Because of which her comrades managed to escape from the Rumbling. But she was caught between the Colossal Titans as they surrounded her.
She tried her best to break free first by killing two Colossal Wall Titans by the thunder spear;after that, she was caught in between the hot steam released by the Colossal Titans, because of which Hange’s body was scorched, and that is the reason why she died.
Was Hange’s death justified in Attack on Titan? was it at all necessary?
As fans in the Attack on Titanuniverse, it sometimes hurts to see our favourite characters, such as Hange, Erwin, and Sasha, dying in the series.
But at the same time, being a fan of Hajime Isayama, we think her death was completely justified in Attack on Titan.
We all know that in Attack on Titan, the series does kill its major characters from time to time, but all of these has happened with proper development of the character; in the case of Hange also saw adequate growth of the character.
She was named as the 14th commander of Survey Corps after the death of Erwin Smith; later on, she also helped the Survey Corps by researching Titans.
She showed her moral side while researching the Titans; she didn’t even think of torturing them but later on, from time to time, we also saw her losing her innocence, one thing was for sure she was always there for her friends and the members of the Survey Corps, and that is what we have witnessed in Attack on Titan during Hange’s death.
She died protecting her friends didn’t even think about herself. Hange was a great character in Attack on Titan Universe, but we believe that her death is justified. Still, she didn’t die in vain because, in the Finale Chapter, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and others managed to stop Eren’s Rumbling.
