The Wheel of Time Season 1 Recap

In the first season, we see that the scene shows us Moiraine. Lan and Warder are now looking for the Legendary Dragon. The Legendary Dragon is a fighter holding the entire world’s destiny in his hands.

In this quest, they gather Perrin, Rand, Mat, Nynaeve, and Egwene from the village of the Two Rivers. They then proceed towards the Aes Sedai headquarters.

As the events proceed, we see Moiraine reveal that one of the youth over there is the Dragon Reborn. With him, they have the possibility of winning over the Dark One.

When they finally prepare to set off for this great mission, Rand understands on the previous night that he is the Dragon Reborn.

The others are then left behind. Moiraine and Rand then set off to combat against the Dark One.

Then we get to see a flashback scene of the time which is 3000 years before the present time. A male Aes Sedai member, Lews Therin, is seen talking to the Dark One. He has an ally with him who is a female Aes Sedai member.

This female ally gives him a warning that the evil being can infect the One Power. However, Lews ignores this warning and proceeds with the attack.

Then we are shown the present time. We see Fades leading a huge army to the city of Shienar. Egwene, Nynaeve, and Perrin are waiting for Rand in this city. We ultimately get to see that the king is killed.

The king’s sister brings all the magic channellers into the kingdom.

This also includes Egwene and Nynaeve, who come in to stop the horde. The combined power of all the magic channellers can finally destroy the huge army. As the spell was potent, the magicians ended up dying as well.

Nynaeve is also shown to be severely wounded. Then we see that Padan Fain, a Darkfriend, makes his way to the castle through a tunnel. Two fades accompany him. They steal an ornate white box that seems to be for the Dragon Reborn.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 Ending Explained: Is Rand out of his senses at the end?

We see that both Moiraine and Rand cross the Blight. They make their way to the Eye of the World. Rand then starts getting visions of the Dark One, who seems to come in a human form.

The Dark One convinces Rand to shift sides and come and take his side. He justifies this by saying that Rand would shape the world as he likes if Rand came to his side. Rand does not accept this offer and uses his magical powers for the first time.

He does this using a Sa’angreal that Moiraine had earlier given him. The Dark One finally gets banished.

For that particular moment, they feel they are safe. Rand then tells Moiraine to tell everyone that he had died at the Eye of the World, and then he leaves the scene.

When Lan arrives at the scene, he finds Moiraine almost breathless and very weak. She then says that Rand is gone, and she cannot feel the connection with the One Power any longer.

Right towards the end, the audience gets to see an unidentified beach. Then we see several ships carrying many magic channelers.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 ending shows Rand deciding to separate himself from the group. He also tells Moiraine to tell everyone that he is dead.

In the show, we get to understand his immense love for Egwene. So separating seems to be a big step that he has taken.

Since the time the male half of the One Power got infected because of the Dark One, it was noticed that all the male magic channelers had gone mad. The prime reason was their connection to Saidin.

As the connection has now opened for Rand, he knows he will be going mad sometime soon.

He also mentions the differences he starts to feel in himself to Moiraine. He might end up hurting all his loved ones. So for everyone’s safety, he decides to isolate himself.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 ending explained: Does Moiraine continue to possess her magic?

Something imaginable that happened at the end of The Wheel of Time Season 1 was that Moiraine, one of the most influential members of the Aes Sedai, has lost her magical powers.

After she confronts the Dark One at the Eye of the World, we see that she loses her power. She channels all her threads into dangerous spears as she realizes that the Dark One has come to them in a human form. But her power was nothing in front of the Dark One.

So he ends up evaporating her conjuring without much effort. Moiraine’s connection to the One Power is broken then.

When Lan finally comes to the scene, she tells him that her lost connection cannot be repaired. The situation turns out to be very sad because this could ultimately lead to madness, which would be a dark fate for a vital character like her in the show.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 ending explained: Does Padan Fain steal something?

When Shienar, the fortified city, is attacked, we see that Padan Fain uses the distraction of the Trollocs to make his way into the castle.

Along with him, two Fades accompany him, and they relentlessly kill anyone who comes in their path.

He finally reaches the throne where the guards are busy excavating the Horn of Valere. Earlier in the series, we were told that the horn was a powerful artefact that the Dragon Reborn would use to bring in additional help while fighting the Dark One.

The horn is a powerful help in need of the Light. This can be used to win over the Dark One. There are no second thoughts that Padan Fain steals it from there. The horn still has not been put to use in the show.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 ending explained: Does Nynaeve survive?

Nynaeve plays a significant role in protecting the city from the massive army of the Trollocs. She puts in her powers along with all the magic channelers.

The magic intensity was extreme, and it destroyed the entire army and many of the magic channelers.

Nynaeve also gets burnt in this process, and Egwene holds her tight. She thought that Nynaeve had died. But later, we get to see that her wounds start getting healed rapidly, so she is ultimately alive.
