Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 228 Recap.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 229 Recap, Breach of Orders.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 229 was interesting as Kawaki, Shikadai, and Chocho took on a C-Rank mission. They encountered two assassins who were sent by the Feudal Lord of the Land of Seas.
The assassins had been hired to find the cure developed by a doctor in the Land of Seas for the epidemic which has broken there. The Feudal Lord was looting people of the Land of seas for his personal gains.
He had administered the cure only to those who would pay enormous sums for it. It was impossible for ordinary people to buy the cure and were therefore vulnerable.
A doctor in the Land of Seas found this unfair and prepared a cure that could be affordable for the common folk.
Feudal Lord got notice of his research and executed him. But before this could happen, the doctor had asked his students to escape with the cure and return when it was complete.
Seven of his students moved to seven separate locations carrying identical bags to prevent the enemy from locating the real one and stealing the cure.
The Feudal Lord has hired the assassins so that they could bring the cure to him, and he would make more profits from the same.
Six of the seven students were killed by these assassins, and the only one that remained was carrying the cure and was hiding in the Leaf Village.
Considering the risk involved, he had hired Shinobi from Leaf Village to escort him under the pretense of carrying a valuable and expensive item to save money since this mission could have been a B-Rank or an A-Rank. Shikadai, Kawaki, and Chocho had been assigned the task.
We also see Konohamaru informing Naruto about corpses of boys found in a forest close to the nations surrounding the Land of Fire. The boys had been killed using special Ninjutsu, and it could be best to assume that it was done by some Shinobi.
Later on, Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada, who were on a D-Rank mission and guarding cattle, came across two Shinobi. They were escaping in the forest, and Boruto could sense a smell of blood coming from them. They were the assassins from the Land of Seas who had killed one of the students of doctor who had developed a cure and was carrying a false box.
The assassins had caught up with Kawaki and his team and waited till dark to attack them. At night, they attacked them. They stole the box containing the cure. One of the assassins took the box and escaped with it.
The other one stayed back to kill the four. He used a unique Hidden Jutsu: Tree Blood Barrier and created a barrier like a web around them. The barrier was created by his own blood.
When the boy tried to cut a thread from the barrier, blood spilled all over his body, and he lost control of his movements. The Jutsu allows the user to control all the actions of the person with whom his blood comes in contact.

Shikadai stopped Kawaki from taking any steps as his actions could prove harmful to others around him. The broken blood threads regenerated on their own, creating a barrier impossible to escape.
Shikadai and Chocho took it upon themselves to handle the situation. Chocho used the human boulder Jutsu and cut all the threads of prison. She was bathed in his blood and was under the enemy’s control now.
The assassin ordered her to attack Kawaki and Shikadai, but in turn, Chocho punched the enemy hard, knocking him unconscious.
Turns out that even though Chocho was in his control, Shikadai has used shadow possession Jutsu on Chocho to attack the enemy.
With this, Chocho was free from Enemy’s Jutsu, and they had broken through the blood barrier. When Kawaki inquired that why they did such a reckless thing, Chocho answered, “I placed my life in Shikadai’s hands. A bond between friends is something no one can destroy.”
Shikadai explained that there are things you can’t do on your own, and you must trust your friends for it. This is the most crucial lesson that Kawaki had to learn from this mission.
The assassin attacked them with blood bullets, and Mozuku was unconscious. Chocho protected him but was hit by a Kunai in her back.
Even then, they fought the assassin through teamwork, and together, Shikadai, Chocho, and Kawaki defeated him and knocked him out. They later tied him to a tree to prevent him from escaping.
Chocho, who had been severely injured by the Kunai, was losing a lot of blood. Mosuke was a student of doctor and knew medical Ninjutsu and used it to close Chocho’s wounds, but it was not much of use as her wounds were deep.
Mosuke, later on, explained that the assassin brothers were named Kurobane and Jujumaru and were well known in the Land of Seas.
They worked for the Feudal Lord. He added that because of them, he and his friends had to scatter in different directions, and now they all had been murdered.
Mosuke was determined to get the cure back that Kurobane had escaped with. Mosuke added that he must take the cure back to the doctor so that his village could be saved.
Shikadai said that Chocho had been severely injured, and they did not know what lay ahead, so they must return to the village for now.
At Mosuke’s request, Kawaki agreed to help him retrieve the cure. When Shikadai resisted, Kawaki said that he was still not a Shinobi and told him that orders mean nothing to him. Kawaki and Shikadai argued for a while, but Kawaki won’t listen to his captain.

He asked Shikadai to take Chocho to the leaf village and that he would go after the second assassin on his own. Saying that he left along with Mosuke to chase after the second assassin, brother Kurobane.
Next time on Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 230 will be exciting to watch as the Jutsu used by Kurobane and his skills are yet unknown, but still, Kawaki will battle him alone.
What skills will Kawaki display? Has he gotten stronger? Will he be able to take on Kurobane alone, or will his friends come to his rescue? Will Kawaki complete the mission successfully and make it up to a Gennin?
