WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Witcher Season 2. If you have not finished watching the season, stop reading now!
If you were like me and had a lot of questions after the season two finale of Witcher, you’re in luck. I’m going to break down what happened and explain it all. So if you’re ready, let’s dive in!
Who Is Voleth Meir in The Witcher Season 2?
Voleth Meir is the main villain in The Witcher Season 2. She is known as the Deathless Mother who prays on the suffering of others. In Episode 1 of Witcher Season 2, Yennefer, Fringilla, Francesca met her for the first time.
As per history is concerned, she was among the first Demons, and the first Witchers of the world were hired and sent to imprison her for good. The Witchers managed to do that, and they contained her in a Hut.
How did Ciri get possessed by the Voleth Meir, the Deathless Mother?
When Yennefer visited the woods and met Voleth Meir, the Deathless Mother, she made one offer to Yennefer at that time if Yennefer brought Ciri (Princess Cririlla of Cintra) to her, then She would return all of Yennefer’s powers which she lost in battle at Sodden Hill.
So much later on, when Yeneffer met Geralt of Rivia and Ciri, she saw her opportunity to regain her powers. When the Renegade mage Rience attacked Ciri, Yeneffer that time convinced Ciri that the only way to meet with Geralt again was to go through Cintra.
This was basically a trap set by Yeneffer to take Ciri to the place where Voleth Meir had asked Yeneffer to bring her.
After spending time with Ciri, Yeneffer finally understands how great Ciri is and also about her true potential, so she had a change of heart, but that came too late for Ciri.
Geralt had understood Yennefer’s actual motive; he gathered Jaskier and got a few friends. And along with them, he tried to save Ciri, for which they managed to reach in time.
Later on when Ciri was returning to Kaer Morhen that time on her way back, she breathed some red glowing substance that was nothing but Voleth Meir, and hence Ciri got possed by the Deathless Mother.

Once Ciri reached Kaer Morhen, Voleth Meir took control over Ciri’s body and immediately started killing the Witchers staying in Kaer Morhen.
But thankfully, Geralt, Yeneffer, Jaskier reached Kaer Morhen in time, and they thought of a way which could be useful to take Voleth Meir out of Ciri’s body.
Then the fight begins, and possessed Ciri starts attacking the Witchers by summoning an army of basilisks.
First, Ciri destroyed the Medallion Tree, the shrine the Witchers use to honour their fallen brothers, and after she destroyed it, they finally discovered it wasn’t a tree after all. It was made of the same material found earlier in the monoliths.
But as Voleth Meir’s army started killing the Witchers, Vesemir lost his patience, he wanted to kill Ciri, but Geralt made him think otherwise, that Ciri is too special to be killed.
But watching the brother’s arms dying in front of his own eyes, Vesemier thinks Ciri should be killed as they did in the case of Eskel in Episode 2.
In the end, the combined effort of Geralt, Yennefer and the remaining Witchers encouraged Ciri to fight Voleth Meir from the inside, which indeed helped them as Ciri tried her level best to resist Voleth Meir.
Still, Voleth Meir was too strong for her and wasn’t ready to give up Ciri’s body.
Then Yeneffer offered to give her body as a sacrifice for Voleth Meir to take it as a vessel and leave Ciri, and she did that by slitting her hands, which worked to bring out Voleth from Ciri’s body.
Then Geralt realized that in order to get Voleth and the basilisk back to their realm, they would have to open a portal which Ciri did, and as soon as they arrived in their portal, Voleth Meir immediately fled to her home.
Meaning Voleth Meir was only looking for a vessel to return back to her home.

So what was there in the Other Dimension? are we in the multiverse territory of The Witcher?
Yes, we are in the multiverse territory of The Witcher, and to explain how this multiverse territory came into the picture, we would have to explain from the beginning of Conjunction of the Spheres.
One thousand two hundred years ago, before the events of The Witcher Series, the world of monsters, the elves and the humans were disconnected.
The Conjunction forced all these diverse realms to occupy one space and introduced magic known as Chaos to the Continent. This is why the humans were intolerable with the monsters living beside them; the humans and the monsters were never meant to live together.
The monoliths that surrounded the continents were none but the remains of the Conjunction; every time we saw new monsters coming for Ciri, they were coming from another realm.

But why Ciri? And What did Geralt, Yeneffer and Ciri come across in the other realm?
When Geralt, Yeneffer and Ciri travelled back to the other realm, and Voleth Meir escaped from her new vessel (Yeneffer) that time they also came across the Wild Hunt, a group of men riding the horse they said,
“Join the Elder Blood, starry-eyed Daughter of Chaos. Join our hunt. Your place is among us.”
So what does that mean? The Wild Hunt is also known as Wraiths of Mörhogg; they are believed to be lived long before as a group of spectres that gallop in the sky. But in reality, they are a group of Aen Elle elves (Red Riders).
The main purpose of these Wild Hunts is to capture the slaves from another world. In Witcher Season 2, ending, they started coming after Ciri, but what was the reason behind it?
Well, the reason was simple, they sensed Ciri with her Elder blood, so their goal now is to capture Ciri no matter what, and that is why at the end of Witcher Season 2, they came after Ciri.
This will also set the plot for Witcher Season 3 perfectly, and they will be the main antagonist in season 3.

What Is Elder Blood? and why do Ciri has it?
Ciri has the Elder blood because she is the descendant of Lara Dorran, an elven sorceress.
This Elder blood belongs to a specific family of Elves, which gives their descendants phenomenal, magical powers. Ciri, being belonged to that bloodline, also had inherited such powers.
The primary elder blood gene only appears to the female descendants, and Ciri having her grandmother, the Lioness of Cintra’s blood, also has the primary elder blood gene.
What happens to Yennefer? Does she regain her powers back?
Yes, at the end of The Witcher Season 2, Yennefer finally gets her powers back. After sacrificing her body by slitting her hands to save Ciri from Voleth Meir, Voleth gave up Ciri’s body as a vessel and moved in Yennefer’s body; once it was done, Yennefer finally regained her powers back.

Who was the Owl in Witcher Season 2?
One of the major cliffhangers in the Witcher Season 2 was the Owl, yes the same out which we saw sitting quietly and thought of as a pet was not actually a pet; it was never an Owl, but this was a spy put in place by Sigismund Dijkstra. And the Owl was the sorceress Philippa Eilhart.
And when Dijkstra said, “Bring me the bard”, it seems Jaskier is also working with them.

What Happened to the Elven Sorceress, Francesca’s Daughter?
The only bad thing that happened in The Witcher Season 2 was the Elven Sorceress; Francesca lost her daughter.
Before her daughter was murdered, Francesca wanted to get out of the war and live a happy life with her baby and husband, but after her baby got murdered, Francesca wasn’t normal. After that, she only saw red. She first travelled to Redania, marked every baby in the kingdom, and killed them in an instance.
During the end of Witcher Season 2, the historian Istredd told Francesca that Ciri is of Hen Ichaer (Elder blood); now, Francesca believes Ciri could help her and the Elves people. Meaning Francesca will also look for Ciri now.

The Witcher Season 2 Ending Explained: Who was the White Flame? and How is he related to Ciri?
Well, at the end of Witcher Season 2, we got one of the major twists in the story.
To tell it right, let’s first go back to the murder of Francesca’s daughter when Elves were turning back on the Nilfgaardians after the born of Francesca’s daughter. The Nilfgaardian Empire thought of changing their minds so that they can fight for the White Flame again.
So, they first murdered Francesca’s daughter, and Fringilla here tried to take credit for it because she thought this would impress the Emperor.
So when the White Flame had arrived in Cintra, Cahir and Fringilla tried to get the credit for the murder of Francesca’s daughter so that they could get some praise from the Emperor.
But then comes the surprise as it revealed the person who ordered Francesca’s daughter death was none, but the Emperor himself and the Emperor was Emhyr var Emreis, aka Ciri’s father, Bart Edwards, also known as Duny.
This revelation answers one of our most important questions how did the Nilfgaardians know who was Cirir even before anyone else in the realm.
![The Witcher Season 2 Ending Explained: Who Was the White Flame [Spoiler]? and How is [Spoiler] Related to Ciri? 119 Emperor Emhyr var Emreis](https://www.mediascrolls.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Emperor-Emhyr-var-Emreis.jpg)

In season 1, we saw that Nilfgaard completely conquered Calanthe’s forces, but why? Maybe the reason is that Calanthe may have objected to Duny being part of her kingdom when he was in love with her daughter.
But when she first met him, saw her daughter’s magic, she let her daughter marry him. Was it related to grudge?
Because the marriage was happy, but then Ciri was born. Calanthe was the protector and the main guardian of Ciri, and after Duny and his wife were lost in the sea, she took take of Ciri.
Then why didn’t Duny meet with her daughter all this time? He first changed his name as The White Flame and then went to Nilfgaard, waited for 12 years and then attacked Cintra and burned it down to ashes? Just see his mother in law dead?
As per the ending, it seems Duny wants to be reunited with his daughter, which makes you question even harder about the true motives of Duny?
Also, he was the one who called for the murder of an elven child to make the Elves think that Nilfgaard’s enemies were the ones responsible for it.
Even at the end of The Witcher Season 2, we see Geralt also coming to the same conclusion, how did Nilfgaard people know about Ciri beforehand? Maybe the revelation of the Emperor’s face might have cleared some doubts, but the true intention of Duny is still unclear.
Geralt also realized that Ciri is a unique child, and her powers in the wrong hands can bring havoc to the world.
But if Ciri is now looking to make the Elves’ lives better and Duny, on the other hand, still wants them as his foot soldiers, then in The Witcher, Season 3 will surely be an awkward reunion between the father and the daughter.

Are Yennefer and Geralt together now?
Yes, Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri are finally together. After watching Yennefer sacrifice her body for Ciri, Geralt now completely trust Yennefer and wants her to teach Ciri how to control her powers.
