Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 220 “Remaining Time” Recap and Ending Explained

Boruto Episode 220 finally brought pause to the Momoshiki Otsusuki’s revival as it has been delayed successfully due to Amado’s medicine.

Let us review the entire episode in detail.

Boruto Episode 220 begins with Boruto playing video games all night.

He feels guilty about what he did to Sasuke and the others when Momoshiki took over his body.

He fears that if he sleeps then, Momoshiki might take over his body and harm his loved ones.

Later we see Naruto and Shikamaru, the Advisor to Hokage, discussing the details of events that took place with the five Kage.

Shikamaru informs them about the Transfer portals they found in the ruins of Boro’s compound.

Such twelve devices were found in different locations and were fused by Kara to move from one place to the other in different dimensions.

All the devices had been destroyed by the time they were found.

As Sasuke Uchiha had also lost his Rinnegan and all the portals are destroyed, there is no way to investigate them further, and using Boruto’s Karma for it is not an option.

Naruto adds that they have not only lost the way to investigate Kara but also the way to find out about the Ten-Tails present in another dimension.

Gaara, the Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village, is worried about dealing with the Ten Tailed beasts as he was one of the significant causes of destruction during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Naruto assures that they might have to battle the beast again in the worst-case scenario, but it is not likely to happen as the enemy does not have the sacrifice required to turn it into the Divine Tree.

The Kage are surprised to hear the word “Enemy” as they assumed the end of Kara with the death of Isshiki Otsusuki.

Naruto informs them about Code and his defective Karma.

Naruto requests the Five Kage to assist them in finding him.

They all agree to place him at the top of the Bingo Booklist.

The Mizukage of hidden Mist village expresses his concern about all the information coming from Amado, the chief scientist of Kara.

Naruto assures them that Amado can be trusted and he was an asset in the Battle with Isshiki Otsusuki as they all would have lost without him.

Naruto adds that he trusts Amado completely.

Gaara, the Kazekage, brings up the last issue of discussion.

He asks about the Karma embedded in Boruto’s palm, and Tsuchikage of hidden Stone village adds that since Momoshiki has taken over Boruto’s body twice, it cannot be ignored.

Gaara asks Naruto “If Momoshiki or Boruto himself were to become an Isshiki level threat, would you be able to take down your own son?” Naruto assures that he will do everything that needs to be done if Momoshiki takes control of Boruto once more.

Gaara explains “Since you’ve lost Kurama’s power, there is no guarantee that you can defeat an Otsusuki. I’m saying it’s too late once something happens, Are you thinking about taking measures before anything happens?”

Here he asks him if he is prepared to kill Boruto before he transforms into Momoshiki Otsusuki.

Naruto is still unsure as he cannot kill his son, but as Hokage, he must do everything in his power to protect the village.

Sumire goes to Uzumaki house where Kawaki and Himawari were having a talk.

She asks Kawaki to come to the Scientific Ninja tools Laboratory. Amado installs Kawaki’s new arm to his body.

His new arm is made up of his cells is just like before and as good as new.

Also, Boruto is seen outside his favorite Burger Store but doesn’t go inside.

Mitsuki, Orochimaru’s son and a member of team 7 meet him there.

Boruto shares his concern that if he eats he might feel sleepy.

He also adds that if Momoshiki takes over his body when he is asleep and harms any of his friends, he will never be able to forgive himself.

Kastsuke, the lead scientist of the scientific ninja tool team, informs Naruto about Boruto’s Karma extracting at an accelerated rate.

If this proceeds this way, he might have a half year or probably only a few weeks as his self before turning into Otsusuki.

Naruto worried about this asks to have this confidential and that he will inform Boruto himself. Sasuke meets up with Naruto and they discuss Boruto’s Karma.

Naruto says “In order to carry out my duty as Hokage, to care for the lives of everyone in the village the right thing to do would be to stop Boruto even if it means to kill him. But I am also his father…..”

Sasuke also informs Naruto about his promise to Boruto, how he would stop him if anything happens and how he fails to keep up to it.

He adds that this time he will do the right thing if required.

Naruto and Sasuke have a heated argument, and Sasuke asks him to face the reality that he no longer has Kurama with him.

Naruto finds Boruto sitting alone over the great stone faces of Hokage’s of the hidden leaf village.

He heavy-heartedly informs him about the time he has left. Also, he tells him that he heard about his promise with Sasuke to take measures when the time comes.

Naruto assures him that as long as he is alive, he won’t let that happen to Boruto.

He says even if he doesn’t have Kurama’s powers or the reputation of Hokage, he is still his Father, and this fact is great power in itself.

Naruto takes Boruto in his arms and tells him “There’s nothing to worry about, Boruto. I’d give my life to stop it from happening. Yeah, you can trust me I never go back on my word.”

Boruto replies “I’ll be counting on you dad.”

Boruto feels his exhaustion taking over his body and feels sleepy.

He had not slept since the Momoshiki incident but now felt secure in Naruto’s arms, assured that nothing can go wrong as long as he is with him.

This emotional scene is enough to bring tears to anyone’s eyes.

Boruto falls asleep in Naruto’s arms.

We see Naruto having a mild panic attack.

The same he had when Sasuke was declared an international criminal and the Raikage of cloud village refused to accept Naruto’s request.

All the Naruto Shippuden fans can never forget this scene.

Just at that time, Amado comes to the scene and says that he has some good news.

He gives Naruto a bottle containing black medicine.

He says it is a drug that he created to reduce the power of Byakugan and effectively of Otsusuki.

Amado says “I did every conceivable thing to take Jigen down. I dirtied my hands by performing inhumane experiments though.”

He explains that the ancient origin of Byakugan can be traced back to Otsusuki, and so weakening the Byakugan might have the effect of curtailing Otsusukification.

In theory, it should stop the Otsusukification completely.

Naruto asks why he did not give it sooner, and Amado explains that Boruto has inherited the potential for Byakugan.

Even if it stops Karma from extracting might have some side effects, and it might now go as it went for Kawaki.

Naruto is shocked that Amado gave this to Kawaki, and he says that it was the only reason why Kawaki’s Karma took much longer to extract than Boruto’s Karma.

He stalled it for as long as he could and administered him a little amount at a time so that Jigen might not notice.

Amado says to Naruto, “We certainly can’t ignore the potential side effects. But I suppose we don’t have any choice, do we?”

Amado says that he too had a daughter who died twelve years ago, and he knows how it feels to not want to lose a child.

This side of Amado was never expected, and it was really good to see that all the tension comes to an end.

Later, Naruto gives the medicine to Boruto as it should be his decision as Amado cannot be completely trusted, and there is a risk of Potential side effects.

He advises him to take his own time and carefully decide what he needs to do.

Boruto says “I’ll take it. But it’s not because I trust Amado. I’ll take it because I trust you, Dad. Besides, I hate seeing you so depressed all the time.”

He takes medicine, and the next day, he enjoys his Burger with his friends.

His Karma has been checked and has stopped extracting completely

He also had peaceful sleep the last night and team 7 shared a happy moment.

Amado has been appointed as an Advisor for the scientific ninja tool department.

Kawaki returns Naruto’s ninja tool arm that he borrowed as Amado has restored his arm.

Kawaki also adds how much he is grateful to Naruto for all he has done.

Naruto offers him if he would like to join as a genin of the leaf village.

Naruto also shares his thought on re-conducting the Chunin exams with Shikamaru.

Boruto Episode 221 will resume the Chunin Exams.

Stay tuned to see what challenges the Genin faces this time in the Forest of death. It will surely be exciting and worth the wait.
