Platinum End Episode 1 Recap and Introduction to the characters and the plot.

Mirai Kakehashi is a boy who lives with his relatives after the death of his parents. He is abused by them and as a result, is suffering from depression. Mirai is so troubled by his life that one day he decides to end it for good. He decides to jump off of a tall building. He shouts his last wish, “I just want to be happy,” and jumps off, closing his eyes forever.

But, it seems that this was not his last time. He is rescued by an Angel. Mirai believes in the existence of Heaven and Hell and thinks that he is dead and the Angel has come to take him to Heaven. He is fine with it until he realizes that he has stopped midair. He comes to his senses and understands that he is not dead yet. He asks her to let him drop so that he can end his life in an instant.

Angel takes him back to the top of the building. She reminds him of his wish about how he wanted to be happy. She adds that she is a special-ranked Angel and has come to give him love and freedom. She knows that his relatives had practically kept him as a slave and thus tries to convince him not to give up on life. She tries to remind him of people that still love him, but it all seems in vain as he has completely given up on life.

She guarantees him love and happiness and reveals to him powers that any human couldn’t possibly imagine. She shows him the Angel Arrow that grants Love and Happiness and that if one man and a woman being hit by it, they will fall in love. The Angel introduces herself as Nasse, and she tells Mirai about how his life can improve for good and how he can become god by defeating 12 such God Candidates like him.

Platinum End can somewhat seem like Death Note, the most loved and favorite Anime of all times, just with Angels in place of Shinigami. But whatever comes in next is bound to be excellent. So stay put till coming Friday to enjoy Platinum End Episode 2.
