Stargirl Season 2 Episode 9 opens in a timeline of a few decades ago, when Eclipso had Bruce Gordon in his clutches, saying that Bruce owed him something. Eclipso even convinces Gordon to let him use his body as a mortal host.

As the temperature of the house goes plummeting, Cameron Mahkent starts tormenting him about his role in Icicle’s death and sends an icy blast to the dog, Buddy. Meanwhile, Barbara imagines herself in a stationary frozen car when Jorden Mahkent suddenly appears in the car’s back seat. She comes out of her hallucination by a wisp of The Shade.
Meanwhile, Pat, still hallucinating, goes back to the time when Eclipso had murdered Dr. Charles McNider‘s ten-year-old daughter, Rebecca.
At that time, Sylvester had told Pat that to defeat Eclipso, they had to eradicate his human host, Bruce Gordon. This being against JSA policy, they held a vote in which there was a tie, which was broken by the Starman’s vote. This vote was in favor of destroying Bruce, and the deed got carried out. In his hallucination, Pat is also being tormented by Bruce.

Courtney brings Pat out of this trauma using the touch of Cosmo. Pat now reveals to Courtney this dark secret of JSA. He tells her all about how JSA had chosen to kill Bruce, after which the team separated, and much later, reunited to form the ISA. Courtney is shocked at this revelation and gets furious at Pat and Barbara for keeping this a secret, while Eclipso, in the body of young Bruce, watches from outside, feeling smug in his victory.
