Gigabyte Technology Adds New Workstations for AMD

Gigabyte Technology is a leader in the industry and is known for its superior performance workstations and servers. Today Gigabyte Technology has announced two upcoming brand new W-series workstations, namely W331-Z00 meant for AMD Ryzen and W771-Z00 for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors.

The company is also working on a motherboard chipset named WRX80, TRX40 chipset rack server, MC62-G40, and G182-C20.

There is a lot of remote work and a superior level of 3D designing or computational engineering. These are all the factors that are driving or bringing in new products which are highly professional.

Gigabyte Technology brings in W771-Z00

The engineers and the ones using power today are very much focused on workloads that have high demands and, at the same time, require a few of the workstations that are very powerful and help to work efficiently and effectively.

W771-Z00 by Gigabyte Technology comes with a top-performing processor belonging to the family of AMD Ryzen Threadripper. The other belonging to the same family include 3995WX having 64 cores 128 threads.

There is no other workstation as powerful as this till now. The motherboard used here is the MC62-G40.

The W771-Z00 from Gigabyte Technology is based on the AMD WRX80 chipset. The features that it has are mostly found in its servers. Apart from the CPU that has been mentioned, there is additional support of 8 DIMMs of the 3200MHz DDR4.

All of them have been kept in a memory configuration of 8 channels. The memory modules in the system can range from 128 GB to 2 TB.

If we look at the feature of GPU accelerated processing, then this chip from Gigabyte Technology supports 4 GPUs of the dual-slot type.

There are a total of seven expansion slots that are available which can be used for the PCIe 4.0 x16 lanes. It will support 8 x 2.5″/3.5″ hot-swap SSD or HDDs coming from 2 cages.

The default configuration will have only a single cage of four SSD or HDD bays and two M.2 slots. There is the support of two 10G LAN and two 1G LAN and the scope of WiFi in an M.2 2230 slot. There is a new ASPEED AST2600 which is kept for managing the BMC.

It also helps in reducing the boot time and increases both management and functionality.

The W771-Z00 is capable of managing high workloads, having 2000 W dual redundant power supplies. Additionally, an optional external rear fan is also present to support several accelerators, which might use either passive or active cooling.

There is also a fan duct for channeling the air through the accelerators that are present.

Apart from this, we will also get an upgrade in PSU up to 2400 W. Consumers can use other rail kits to mount rails.

Gigabyte Technology also presents MC62-G40

Gigabyte Technology’s all-new MC62-G40 is an enterprise-class workstation, and there is also a choice available for the motherboards. There can also be a standalone motherboard which is found in the W771-Z00.

The form factor that we will find in MC62-G40 is the SSI-CEB having the WRX80 chipset. If we look at the CPU, we will see that AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro has been used, having 8 DIMMs. The support for memory goes up to 2 TB. If we consider the expansion slots, then there are six PCIe 4.0 and one PCIe 4.0 x8.

In the LAN, we will find two 10 GbE, one 1 GbE, and one MLAN. Coming to the storage part, it has four SATA ports, two M.2 and 3 SlimSAS. There is also the support of six slots of USB 3.2 Gen2 and one TPM header.

The third launch from Gigabyte Technology is the W331-Z00.

Gigabyte Technology has developed the W331-Z00 with a focus on the consumer part of several workstations. This is specially designed for power users, designers, and knowledge workers. For the AMD B550 chipset, Gigabyte Technology’s W331-Z00 supports the AMD Ryzen 3000 and the 5000 series of processors.

The CPU used in the AM4 platform has support up to the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X.

It has 16 cores, and a TDP of 105 W. Support for 4 DIMMs up to the support of 3200MHz DDR4, which will go until the 128 GB of memory support is available.

Coming to the PCIe lanes, we will see four expansion slots. Out of these four slots, one of them is the PCIe 4.0 x16. This supports the latest GPU. The next slot is for WiFi, having an M.2 2230. The remaining two slots are used for storage, a 2.5″ SSD or a 3.5″ SSD.

We will find two M.2 2280 supporting NVMe SSDs on the motherboard. Apart from the standard I/O connectors, we will find two 1 GbE LAN ports.

Out of the two, we will find one port that has the support of DASH. It is a web service standard used for securing the ones not in the band and for remote management. 500 W PSU will be used for providing power to the system.

The final launch from Gigabyte Technology is the G182-C20

The Threadripper processor does not have limited uses when it comes to builds in classic workstations. There is a small enough footprint of a server that is centric to the 1U GPU. The new G182-C20 from Gigabyte Technology supports all the 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper Processors and has been solely based on the TRX40 Chipset.

There is a support of quad-channel memory support having 8 DIMM slots which are fixed for having 256 GB of memory in the system. Although it is just a 1U chassis, it will also be supporting two FHFL GPUs.
