Evil Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: What Happened in the Previous Episode?

Evil Season 2 Episode 8 has been titled “B is for Brain.” In this episode, the Catholic church asks David, Kristen, and Ben to investigate a brain-mapping device that is supposed to let its users see God.

The church wants the trio to find out if this device could actually bring people closer to God and encourage non-believers to convert to Catholicism.

Another significant event in Evil Season 2 Episode 8 was the return of Kristen’s husband, Andy( played by Patrick Brammall), from his expeditions. It is the first time that the viewers see him in season 2.

He is surprised to find Kristen quite changed and a more aggressive person. The next day, Kristen beats up a man at the supermarket for a flimsy reason, and he also discovers Kristen’s “kill maps” in her closet.

When Andy confronts her about it, she confesses that if someone makes her very angry, to vent her aggressive feelings, she takes the blueprint of their houses and plans to kill them.

Soon after this, Kristen wakes up at midnight, goes to the kitchen, and burns herself after heating the cross at the end of her rosary. All this gets Andy really concerned for Kristen, and he even thinks of selling away his climbing company and take up a regular job back home. He also wishes that she would quit her job at the church.

Meanwhile, the trio of Kristen, David, and Ben wants to use the device on themselves to investigate it thoroughly. Ben goes in first and gets the vision of his dead mother scolding him for turning away from Allah. Then, his vision turns eerier as he sees Abby, the demon. This experience traumatizes Ben.

When Kristen tries this device, the proctor claims that her body is not registering on the device. So, David volunteers to go in her place, and then he sees Kristen murdering LeRoux. When he tells Kristen about this, she calls Dr. Boggs for an emergency therapy session.

Dr. Boggs advises her to come clean on this issue and confess everything to David. When Kristen goes to David’s house to make the confession, she finds Leland answering the door, holding David’s ripped-off arm and chewing on it.

Kristen now realizes that this entire segment was her vision and calls for an emergency therapy session, this time for real. During the session, Dr. Boggs wonders if Kristen’s affection is shifting towards David.

When David finally tries the device, he does not see anything, which makes Sister Andrea say that this happened because David’s visions were coming directly from God, with technology having no part in it.

She says that his visions are very important for the church’s fight against the evil Leland. So, she asks him not to mess with the technology as this could mean compromising on God’s direct messages.

At the end of Evil Season 2 Episode 8, the trio is undecided about the safety of the brain mapping device. Surprisingly, Kristen is in favor of the device, Ben is doubtful, but David argues against it, saying that technology messing like this with religious beliefs could actually drive people away from God.

Evil is a supernatural crime drama TV series created by the wife-husband duo Michelle and Robert King. The series follows a trio of Kristen, a forensic psychologist, Ben, a contractor, while David is a priest in training.

While Kristen and Ben are skeptics, David is a believer. Together, they investigate the unexplained mysteries related to the Catholic church.

The church uses the trio’s expertise to determine whether any supernatural event has a logical and scientific explanation to it. Katja Herbers plays Dr. Kristen, Mike Colter plays David Acosta, and Aasif Mandvi plays Ben Shakir in the series.
