As the Smith family leaves, Rick is seen working to revive Birdperson. He finds out that Birdperson’s mind is hidden inside the subconscious mind, and he decides to enter his mind to save him.

While the episode was almost towards the end, Rick reveals that Birdperson has a child whose existence he is unaware of. On hearing this, the Birdperson wants to live and give up his thoughts on dying.

Before this subconscious mind is destroyed, Young Rick sacrifices his life so that the friends can escape. This happens in a very small span of time, and they return to their bodily forms.

We find in Rick and Morty Season 5 Episode 8 that the Birdperson finally lives in the end, but there is a crack in their friendship. He is thankful to Rick for saving his life, but he cannot forgive him for not telling him but his son.

Rick admits his selfishness in his deeds, and he feels sorry for disappointing him. Now their friendship has become more complex than it was before.
