In our previous article, we had discussed all the updates related to Mindhunter season 3. In this article today, we will be discussing some of the significant twists of season 2 related to Brian Tench, which can be followed up in the third season.
The following question related to Bill Tench’s Son Brian Tench is one of the most asked questions related to season 3 of Mindhunter. Who is Brian Tench? Is he based on a real-life character? And What Happens to Him? Will he turn up to be a serial Killer? So to answer that, let’s dive deep into the following article. We all know that most of the part of Netflix’s Mindhunter Season 2 was about the Atlanta Case, so it didn’t focus on finishing the story of Brian Tench and BTK Killer.
Who is Bill Tench in Netflix’s Mindhunter Series?
Brian Trench is the adopted son(10 years) of both Bill and Nancy Tench. Suppose you have watched the Mindhunter Series. You will be pretty much aware of this character. Season 2 of Mindhunter was mainly based on the story related to the Atlanta Cases, so the season ended on a cliffhanger and didn’t shed any light on Brian Tench and the BTK Killer plot.
If the Mindhunter Season 3 ever gets a renewal, it will reveal what Brian is suffering from in the series and give us Brian’s true face, which the writers kept secret in season 2.
What did Brian do in Netflix’s Mindhunter Season 2?
In Mindhunter Season 2, the lead detective Bill Tench learns that his son Brian had placed the body of a toddler in a cross that accidentally killed the toddler.
Although Brian wasn’t charged with anything, The family had to visit the counselor once a week. A social worker was also requested to drop by repeatedly to see in what environment Brian was in. This significantly caused Bill’s job and affected his marriage with Nancy as both Bill and Holden were working on the Atlanta case at that time. Bill every week had to return back to his hometown to take Brian to the counselor.
Further in Mindhunter Season 2, we started to see Brian’s behavior beginning to change. After the toddler incident, he suddenly started wetting his bed, plus there was a particular scene in the park where Brian was looking at a girl creepily and scarily, which eventually led to her mom taking her back from the park.

Is this based on an actual incident?
You all might be wondering if that was just made up in season 2 or it was real. Well, the story wasn’t simply invented by the Mindhunter writers. It was based on a real-life incident in San Francisco in 1971 when a pair of brothers accidentally killed a twenty-month-old child.
It was also famous as the Crucifixion case, and a ten-year-old and 7-year brothers were involved in this case, and the toddler’s name was Noah Alba.
The narrative in the Netflix show had its variations, but ultimately, it was also true that they were taken from real-life cases. Although the two brothers involved in that case didn’t become serial killers, the writers had some other plans with Brian as, during most of the parts of season 2, we saw Brian showing some unusual behavior.
Maybe if season 3 of Mindhunter is ever renewed, the Writers might reveal the case with Brian. If he was suffering from something, or he had that criminal mindset from the beginning.
Who is Brian Tench based on?
Brian Tench is not based on any serial killer in the Mindhunter TV Series, but he is connected to the case of Noah Alba, which is based on an actual case of San Francisco in 1971.

What Bill Tench’s son become a Serial Killer in Netflix’s Mindhunter Season 3?
Well, we can’t answer that at the moment as most of the part of Mindhunter Season 2, we saw some strange behavior from Brian. From looking strangely and oddly towards the girl in the park, he stopped talking to his parents and started wetting his bed after the incident.
All these changes in his behavior suggested that he might become a serial killer in the third season. But as of now, the series hasn’t been renewed from Netflix for a season 3 yet. If it gets restored in the future, it will follow Brian Tench’s story for sure.
