Vinland Saga is a historical manga series based on stories about the legendary Vikings from the eleventh century. It is one of the world’s finest anime series created by manga author Makoto Yukimura. The story develops around ‘Thorfinn’ son of Thors, one of the greatest Vikings ever existed, who was murdered by a pirate named Askeladd by taking Thorfinn and some other people from his village hostage.

Thorfinn spends his entire life working as one of Askeladd’s men to avenge his father’s death by defeating him in a duel. The story tries to explain the creation of one’s own Vinland. A world where people can live their lives in peace and harmony, away from useless wars and their effects.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Release Date: When Will The Season 2 Arrive?

Vinland Saga is one of the most favorite anime and certainly one of the most awaited too. Finally, the wait is over as Vinland Saga Season 2 release has been confirmed by Wit Studio. Though there hasn’t been any official announcement about its release date as per a recent tweet by the author, Makoto Yukimura, fans can expect Vinland Saga Season 2 to be released by the end of 2021 or early 2022.

Fans have been anticipating the release of Vinland Saga Season 2 for some time now, as it has been more than two years since Season 1. To add more to it, there is still suspense of what might happen in Season 2 after the thrilling end of Season 1, where Askeladd decapitates the king and dies to protect the young prince and his motherland.

Vinland Saga Season 1 Recap: What happened in the Previous Season?

In Season 1 of Vinland Saga, we saw the tragic death of ‘Thors’ the “Troll of Jom,” the strongest of the Jomsvikings. This death affects Thorfinn, son of Thors, so deeply that his desire for revenge drives him crazy enough to join Askeladd’s crew. His only purpose of life turns only to avenge his father’s death.

Season 1 of Vinland Saga consists of 24 episodes released between July and December of the year 2019.
The main plot of the story is ‘Thors’ the “Troll of Jom” leaves the Jomvikings as he realizes the effects of battle. He finally understands that war is not something that he desires and fakes his own death as the only way to leave the Jomvikings is through death.

Later he was discovered alive after many years and ordered to join Jomviking again and it was the only way to save innocent villagers. But he was betrayed by one of his own Jomvikings, who hired Askeladd to ambush and assassinate him.
He gave up his arms and was killed by Askeladd’s men, who broke the sacred rules of the duel, and to protect the lives of Thorfinn and his friends, he gave up his life.

Later we see Thorfinn learn to fight so that he could challenge Askeladd and defeat him in a duel so as to avenge his father. The journey of Throfinn turning from an innocent boy to a ruthless killer is thrilling and exciting to watch.

Vinland Saga Season 2: What to Expect?

In Season 1, we see the death of Askeladd as he kills the old and evil emperor to save his motherland and protect and crown the young prince as emperor. But this death turns Thorfinn’s life upside down as his sole purpose in life was to defeat Askeladd in a duel and avenge his father. With Askeladd’s death, he loses his reason for existence.

In this season, we can expect Thorfinn to return to his mother and sister in Greenland. There he might understand why his father Thors, the strongest of Jomvikings, left his previous life of battle to live a peaceful life with his family.

Also, later we can expect him to sail to his father’s imaginary Iceland. A land where crops can grow, the sun shines bright, there is no snow, the land is covered in green grass and far away from the horrors of battle. The ideal land that everyone desires.

Vinland Saga Season 2 will be full of action, adventure, drama, twists, and fun to watch. Thorfinn’s life and his journey to Iceland will change the lives of many.
