If you’re a fan of sports anime, ‘Haikyuu!!’ has to be on your watchlist. Illustrated by the famous mangaka, Haruichi Furudate, ‘Haikyuu!!’ has garnered a mass following ever since it made its debut, and with a total of four seasons, its achievements are praiseworthy.

The anime series has much to offer, from dramatic scenes that will pump you up to inspirational moments that will motivate you to work hard and defy all odds. With a score of over 8.48 on My AnimeList and multiple ‘top 10 anime series inclusion,’ ‘Haikyuu!!’ sits at the very top when we think of titles in the sports genre.

The story reflects the dreams of numerous kids who, being inspired by a legendary figure, aspires to take up sport and walk in the same shoes.

How many of us have grown up watching a particular exceptional athlete and have always desired to be just like him/her? The answer would be a majority of us, and such is the case for Shouyou Hinata, the main protagonist of the series.

Shouyou also had that special person who has a significant influence on him. We are talking about “Little Giant,” playing for ‘Karasuno High School,’ an ace on the Volleyball court, and watch him kindled the fire in young Shouyou’s heart to revive his school’s volleyball club. Just a glimpse of him made Hinata try and do something in a field that typically requires athletes of high stature. Despite being short, Hinata had the obsession and willpower to walk in the footsteps of the ‘Little Giant.’

The group had high hopes, and their journey had only begun, so there are many areas to cover and improve. With what in hand, they went on to do wonders on the court, progressing incrementally. All was good until they had their very first match in the tournament. Hinata’s team suffered a devastating loss, all thanks opposing team’s Tobio Kageyama.

Kageyama is a prodigy and a magician on the court, also regarded as the “King of the Court.” Seeing the intensity and the level of skill required to be the very best, Shouyou Hinata starts seeing Tobio Kageyama as a rival. With much to prove, Hinata vows to put Kageyama in his shadows.

The stakes are high, and Hinata’s rivalry takes him to ‘Karasuno High School’s volleyball team.’ However, he never imagined he would team up with Tobio Kageyama. Now, both of them are the spotlights of the play and have to work together to regain Karasuno High School’s long-lost glory.

Hinata’s gifted athleticism combined with Kageyama’s skillsets is what makes the show so irresistible. The duo’s dynamics, which pushes each to walk the extra mile, are what Karasuno High needed the most.

As they grow together, the Karasuno High gets stronger, and with that, their goal of reaching the Nationals and restoring their previous status gets clearer.
