Never Have I Ever Season 2 is set to release on Netflix in July 2021. The show, created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, is about Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s character, Devi Vishwakumar, a first-generation Indian American girl growing up in Southern California. The cast confirmed the show’s revival for a second season by posting it on their social media accounts.
In the first season, viewers saw Devi trying to change her life after a disastrous first year of high school because of her trauma after her father, Mohan’s sudden demise. Devi struggles with finding a boyfriend and being invited to parties to make her seem popular in school. The season also showed her troubled relationship with her mother, Nalini, and with her friends. The season ended with Devi coming to terms with her mother, returning home, and developing feelings for her nemesis, Ben Gross.
Never Have I Ever Season 2 Release Date
Never Have I Ever Season 1 premiered on Netflix on April 27, 2020, and its second season is set to be aired on Netflix in July 2021. The release date has not been announced yet. However, fans are expecting the official date to be announced very soon.
Never Have I Ever Season 2 Plot: What to Expect?
Never Have I Ever Season 2 will show whether Devi’s relationship with her mother improves after she decided to go back home. The new season will also encourage them to deal with their repressed feelings after going through such deep trauma.
Devi will also work on her relationship with her friends, Eleanor and Fabiola. Her friends have done a lot for her and have always stood by her. But, unfortunately, season 1 showed that she did not acknowledge everything they did for her and took them for granted.
Season 2 will also deal with her love triangle with Ben and Paxton. Season 1 showed Devi obsessed with Paxton throughout the season, only to develop feelings for Ben in the last episode. Never Have I Ever Season 2 will show who she finally chooses, based on her endless crush on Paxton and Ben turning out to be a nice person.
The most crucial topic that Never Have I Ever Season 2 will show is Devi dealing with her anger issues. She will learn to deal with the feelings she had repressed after her father’s death. Viewers will also find out whether her family will move to India, following her mother’s wish to do so.
New additions to the Cast
Never Have I Ever Season 2 will be introducing some new characters to add to the storyline of the show. The cast members of the first season will continue as their characters in this season.
The new season will have a new student at Sherman Oaks High, whose radiant and confident personality will intimidate Devi. Megan Suri will play the role of this new student. She has recently tweeted that she is thrilled to be a part of the show and is overwhelmed by how welcome she feels as a new member. She has also featured in other Netflix shows like 13 Reasons Why and Atypical.
Never Have I Ever Season 2 will also introduce Utkarsh Ambudkar as Mr. Kulkarni, an English teacher at Sherman Oaks High. He will be popularly known as the coolest teacher in the school and will form a special bond with Devi. Utkarsh Ambudkar has also appeared in The Mindy Project, and Brittany Runs a Marathon.
Tyler Alvarez will be seen in the recurring role of Malcolm, who will also be a student at Sherman Oaks High. Malcolm is a teen actor who was in elementary school with Devi and her friends. When he got a chance to be cast in a Disney Channel show, he left the school. Season 2 will mark his return to their school while continuing his acting career at the same time.
Another character to be included in “Never Have I Ever Season 2” is Evan, played by P.J. Byrne. Evan is the head research assistant at Caltech. He will be a part of Devi’s cousin Kamala’s program and will be intimidated by her. P.J. Byrne has also appeared on The Wolf of Wall Street and The Boys.
Some recent tweets by the cast have suggested that the Rapper Common will appear as Dr. Chris Jackson, her rival dermatologist. However, Dr. Chris Jackson is also expected to emerge as the love interest of Devi’s mother, Nalini. As a consequence, Devi is bound to see him with suspicion.
