The Days Gone sequel project by Bend Studio has been turned down. So the developers of the game have started working on a new project. Bend Studio is currently developing a new and every exciting IP in place of making a sequel to the biker zombie adventure game.
The Head of the PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hust, has mentioned this in an interview that was posted on Wednesday on the PlayStation blog. Hermen Hulst has also posted that the new God Of War will not release this year. Instead, we will see the game launch in 2022.
Hermen Hulst did not offer any insight into the new game that the Bend Studios are developing. He mentioned that they are working on something which is related to the open-world ecosystem, which was also used in Days Gone. This confirms the reports which were obtained in the month of April. One report stated that the studio would be developing a new game as the sequel of Days Gone was turned down.
Days Gone developer, Bend Studios, is now working on a new game.
Days Gone proved to be a big success in terms of commercial value. But when it came to leaving a mark and positive reviews, there was a big drop on that part. This was one of the primary reasons why the PlayStation studios felt like they would not want to go forward with a sequel. There is still a dedicated fanbase for Days Gone. There was an online petition which demanded the sequel to the game. More than 115,000 signatures were there in the petition. The game was a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but now it has been made available on PCs.
Bend Studio was founded back in Oregon about 30 years ago. Sony has owned this studio since 2000. The studio has another franchise that has been running under its name- stealth shooting Syphon Filter. The most recent entry was the Syphon Filter Logan’s Shadow which was exclusively available on the PlayStation 2.
Apart from developing Days Gone, the studio has always supported the PlayStation by making the PSP (PlayStation Portable), PS Vita game series like the Resistance Series, Insomniac Games, and the Naughty Dog’s Uncharted game series between the years of 2009 and 2012.
Hermen Hulst is also the co-founder of Horizon Zero Dawn and the Guerrilla Games by Killzone. He was also the ex-Managing Director over there. He then took over the responsibilities of PlayStation Studios from Shuhei Yoshida in 2019 November.
