Many users who shared their grief on Twitter stated that the crash seems to happen due to the finale episode premiere of The Mare Of Easttown; maybe HBO Max’s infrastructure is not ready to stream the finale to millions of concurrent viewers at the same time.
Even last Tuesday, HBO Max users reported a similar outage where they could not play anything when they logged in to HBO Max. “Can’t play title” this error message was displaying every time. According to Down Detector and various other social media reports, the total downtime seemed to be between two and three hours last time.
The rollout of HBO Max has been a roller coaster ride after their initial struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic; the service went back on track at the end of 2021 due to the shows like ‘The Undoing’ and ‘Flight Attendant.’ After that, Warner Bros announced that their films would release in HBO Max simultaneously as theater releases that increased the subscriber’s list of the giant streaming service.
