Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ is currently holding the spotlight. The processor chipset has landed on the Geekbench listing. The company has been very regular when it comes to updating its processor chipset in a specified interval of time. The non-plus version had launched in December 2020, and now comes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ in the month of July (expected month of launch). So we are slowly moving towards the expected timeframe.
One of the primary changes of this processor as compared to its previous variant is that it is overclocked. The method of overclocking makes the processor run at a frequency of 3.0 GHz compared to the earlier version, which ran on 2.8 GHz. According to the test, four A55 cores were running at low powers at the frequency of 1.8 GHz, which seems to be really good. There are also three additional clusters of Cortex A78, which are operating a frequency of 2.4 GHz.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ has been equipped with an arsenal and has scored 1,171 points in the category of single-core. In the multi-core category, it has scored 3,704 points. These points fall in line just like previous year’s Snapdragon 865+ matched with that of the Snapdragon 865.
Currently, we have no other extra information about this processor or any other changes that might happen. Last year we had seen the plus variant did receive some boost in the GPU clock. This year the things might even be the same or even better. We will have to wait to get more information on this processor chipset.
Earlier, we had got to know that Qualcomm was planning to manufacture its chips from Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The world is facing a huge shortage of semiconductors. The desire and the need for smartphones are increasing day by day. Qualcomm, being one of the largest producers of these chipsets, cannot fall behind. Currently, it is receiving some good competition from the MediaTek Dimensity processors. We have also got to know that even Apple has come in talks with Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to manufacture their chips. So in a few weeks, we will also get to know whether the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset will be manufactured by the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.
