SNL Korea the Korean version of the famous American TV show “Saturday Night Live,” has confirmed its revival for a tenth season this summer. NBC Universal Formats and Broadway Video Enterprise, a part of the Universal Studio Group, had previously announced the plan for the tenth season of SNL Korea in February this year. It has signed an agreement with Coupang Play and has already started production. It premiered in December 2011 and has completed nine seasons since then.
The previous nine seasons of SNL Korea aired on CJ E&M’s general service cable channel tvN from 2011 to 2018. The show’s producers have been Broadway Video and Lorne Michaels and Jennifer Danielson from SNL Studios throughout the nine seasons.
Expectations from Season 10 of SNL Korea
The new season of SNL Korea is said to have ten episodes. Each episode will be running for an hour. It will be produced by AStory, and directed by Kwon Seung-wook and Yoo Seong-mo. Ahn Sang-hwi will come back as the lead producer, and Shin Dong-yup will be the host again this season. It will continue to follow the pattern of the original SNL.
Coupang Play is an SVOD streaming platform launched by the leading e-commerce service Coupang in December last year. Coupang has been an e-commerce service for the past eleven years and has become Korea’s most prominent e-commerce service. It also got launched in the New York Stock Exchange this year. It has various other services like Rocket Fresh, Rocket Delivery, Coupang Eats, and Coupang Flex. The company formed Coupang Play with the help of its acquired assets of the Singaporean streaming service HOOQ. Coupang Play subscription is included as a part of Coupang’s premium delivery service subscription. Saturday Night Live Korea, also known as SNL Korea, will be its first entertainment original.

The original version of Saturday Night Live is an American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show that has gained immense popularity worldwide. The weekly show consists of comedy sketches performed by various celebrities and vast members. It has been running for more than 40 years and is currently on its 46th season. Lorne Michaels is the executive producer and creator of the show and has produced it in association with Broadway Video for NBC. In addition, the show’s format has adaptations in several regions, including Korea, France, Brazil, Italy, Poland, Japan, China, and the Middle East.
