The Last Kingdom Season 5 Has Started Filming and Will End with Season 5

The Last Kingdom is being reported to come out for the final time on Netflix, with Season 5. Netflix has decided to put an end to the show finally. The show was adapted from the best-selling novel, The Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell. The producer and the massive streaming giant, Carnival Films, have confirmed that Season 5 will end the show. The show has been about a historical drama which started life before six years on the BBC.

The shooting is in process for the upcoming ten episodes in the last season. These episodes will primarily focus on the adventures of Uhtred of Bebbanburg, which was Alexander Dreymon. He was a warrior who was born as a Saxon, but then he got raised as a Dane. This was set up in the ninth and tenth centuries of England.

Aethelstan was the first-born son of King Edward. Uhtred was responsible for training him to be a warrior, but his ambitions were planned for something even more significant. In order to achieve his ambitions, he to come face-to-face with his biggest enemy and go through a huge amount of losses. This season will be made on the 9th and 10th books out of the 13 books in the series.

The people who will join the cast in this new season are Patrick Robinson, who will play the role of Father Benedict, a holy person who has faced a lot in his past days; next is Sonya Cassidy playing the character of Eadgifu, she is a smart and true Saxon who comes to Winchester. Finally, we will see Harry Gilby playing Aethelstan. This character is being trained by Uhtred to follow the footsteps of a great warrior.

The director for the final season is a fresh face. Dreymon will be directing an episode in the season for the first time. Several other people will be directing several episodes across the season. They are Paul Wilmshurst (who had earlier directed Strike Back), Jon East (who had earlier directed Pennyworth), Anthony Philipson (who had earlier directed Our Girl), and Andy Hay (who had directed Lucky Man).

Martha Hillier has penned down the show. Nigel Marchant and Gareth Neame are the executive producers of The Last Kingdom. The distribution part of the new season will be looked after by NBC Universal Global Distribution.
