The anime Kemono Jihen season 2 belongs to the urban horror fantasy genre, and Sho Aimoto is a writer and illustrator of the show. It depicts a world inhabited jointly by humans and monsters or kemonos.
The plot centers around the protagonist, who is a mix of ghost-human Kabane Kusaka, who was dejected and left alone by his extended family after his parents disappeared. Then he moves to Tokyo and starts working at the Inugami Strangeness Consultancy Office for Kohachi Inugami, the Kemono detective. This leads to the discovery of the real meaning of family and companionship for Kusaka.
The show depicted mythology in an enriched way and had a fantastic narration method, which gave a positive response to it. The 1st season has just finished getting aired. Let’s see what we know of the second season!
Kemono Jihen Season 2: Renewal Status and Release Date
Consisting of 12 episodes, the first season was premiered on 10th January 2021 and ended by 28th March 2021. The main writer is Nobora Kimura, Masaya Fujimori was the director. The Ajia-Do Animation Works house did the production. There hasn’t been any official notification regarding the second season. Yet from the show’s dedicated fanbase, we know the demand for the second season is quite loud.
Death Note and Mob Psycho 100 are some of the popular shows in the genre already got many seasons, so we don’t think Kemono Jihen will be an exception. Ajia-Do had earlier created multiple seasons of the multimedia franchises like Kaiketsu Zorori. Such a popular show like Kemono Jihen is surely expected to receive a second season.
Sometimes it happens that another production house takes over from Ajia – Do, similar to the way the houses like Tezuka Productions and Okuruto Noboru took from Ajia-Do with ‘How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, or even Ajia-Do took over from Pierrot for ‘Emma.’ Anyway, the second season is expected to be around 2023.
Plotline Of Kemono Jihen Season 2: What to Expect?
We see in the first episode the null stone in Yui’s chest being pulled out by Akira, while Kabane helped. It became one with the life stone of Kabane and formed a kemono stone. Inari wants to take it but gets prohibited by Inugami, who wants her to return it to Kabane. We get to know that all the village women in Mount Iwanki got killed by Yui, as he was under the null stone’s influence. He is convinced to share the burden with Akira.
The two brothers set out on a journey in quest of searching their selves after Yui recovered. It is revealed in the episode that kemono jihen is nothing but the tough tussle between humans and the Kemono. Kabane comes to think that he might have been one among the family of Kemono chiefs. To know more about Kabane’s parents, Inugami and Kabane themselves set out on a journey, joined by Kon.
We think that the 22nd Chapter of the 6th volume can be adapted in the second season. Kabane and Kon are being taken to their original place Shikoku by Inugami. Some more bakedanuki can be brought in season 2, and more exploration of their culture and friendship can be done.
A well-known character of the manga, Princess Iyo Yashima, can be featured for the first time in the second season. She might be an opponent of Kon in the fight for Kabane’s attention. Inari sent Kon on a mission so that Kabane gives her the kemonostone. She will be torn between her choice for her loyalty towards Inari and the newly developing bond with Kabane in the second season. Watch out for more!
