In the new beta update from iOS, Apple will feature new English voices for Siri. The report states that the company will remove the default Siri voice from iOS devices and give new options on which option users want to keep as the voice of Siri. The AI assistant will come with two new voice variants; the company stated about their decision to remove the default voice of Siri to let the users more options for the AI assistant for setting up their Apple devices. It is their new commitment towards gender diversity.
The update has been heard in the beta version of iOS to the participants of the program. Siri was earlier used in the default female voice, responding and assisting users with queries and action. In some countries, the voice option was also kept as male by default. But now, the option will be available to the users; they can keep any voice they want to prefer. This is the first time Apple incorporates this change for gender diversity. But other services such as Google, assistant, and Alexa use a female voice as default.

With the new update, the users will be able to select the voice option for Siri from a total of 21 languages. The two new voice option launched in the beta version is available in for users across the globe.
Apple stated that Siri is constantly evolving with time and with continuing responses in line with the world’s trends. Recent examples such as adding a response to Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate. The intelligent assistant Siri was able to add strong responses to abusive gender-based responses.
Apple stated in an interview that they are very excited to introduce the two new voices for the users as from now on, the users will able to select the voice they want to set for their devices. This is Apple’s continued long-standing to gender diversity inclusion and the products and services designed to reflect a positive message in the world we live in. With this new update that will incorporate two new voices, Siri will also feature Speak Screen, Dictation, and voice control. Siri also provides COVID-19 resources such as testing sites and vacation locations and CDC guidance on COVID-19 symptoms.
Siri handles over 25 billion requests per month on over 500 million Apple devices. Siri will continue to evolve in the upcoming days, especially in recognizing speech, accents, and languages.
The new beta update will also upgrade the voices in Russia, Ireland, and Italy to Neural TTS. Neural TTS or Neural Test to Speech technology is used to bring natural sound to the Siri voices, and the new update will be able to get total Siri voices using Neural TTS to 38.
