Ghost of Tsushima Movie Is In Works With John Wick Director Chad Stahelski

Ghost of Tsushima, a big gaming title in PlayStation, has been announced for a film adaptation by Sony. It will be directed by Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick. The game version by Sucker Punch productions was a major hit and sold over 6.5 million copies in less than a year’s time. This new is just one out of the several adaptations of PlayStation’s games. The other similar movies which will release are Uncharted film led by Tom Holland and The Last of Us series on HBO led by Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal.

Per Deadline, the film adaptation of the said PlayStation game is being developed by Sony and PlayStation Productions. Chad Stahelski will direct it, and Alex Young and Jason Spitz from 87Eleven Entertainment will be producing it along with Carter Swan and Asad Qizibash of PlayStation Productions. Sucker Punch will play a role in the executive production capacity headed by Peter Kang. Nate Fox is very excited to be a part of the project. He has mentioned that the thought of converting this game into a movie is very intriguing and exciting.

Sony had earlier mentioned that there would be work on seven web series and three movies based on PlayStation games. Ghost of Tsushima was one of the most probable films. The franchise also had plans about working on an animated series based on Sly Cooper from the Sucker Punch franchise. These plans were immediately put to stop after Ratchet & Clank crashed at the box office. After this incident, Sony has intended to work on only movies and series for the time being.

The said game is one of the many games that will have their movie adaptations. Netflix has already shown its interest in making series and films based on games like Resident Evil, Splinter Cell, and Assassin’s Creed. There are already a few game adaptations that have been made, like Dota: Dragon’s Blood and Castlevania. In the upcoming days, we will quite a few game adaptations like Mortal Kombat on the 16th of April and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. While making such adaptations, there have always been many disappointments, but Ghost of Tsushima might surely prove to be a big hit on the movie list.
