The new Snapdragon 888 equipped phones to be brought in 2021 by Motorola. At the virtual Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020 came the much-awaited announcement of Qualcomm’s best chipset that is going to the most important thing in smartphones in 2021.
Snapdragon 888 is Qualcomm’s latest processor that will give power to a variety of mid-range and premium Android phones in 2021.

Along with the CPU and GPU’s impressive performance, the 5nm architecture-based chipset opens up new paths and hardware innovations for handset makers to explore. It is loaded with immense firepower and an AI brain that allows it to do more than just data processing.
Snapdragon 888: Motorola Smartphones
There’s competition now as to who can launch the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone, and as already, Xiaomi and Realme have confirmed phones with the latest chipset, Motorola won’t also be lagging.
Hardly any details are known at this point about the Motorola Snapdragon 888 phone’s specification. But they’ve been seemed to be working on it.
We can expect features like an AMOLED panel; other specs could include support for fast charging, reverse wireless charging, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. Its newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset will also allow Motorola to provide software updates for longer, something they wanted to correct for a long.
According to phone arena, Motorola introduced a flagship model in April this year with the Edge Plus. The 5G-enabled Edge Plus costs ₹65,000 online approximately. The phone comes with 12GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 108-megapixel camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery.
Snapdragon 888: Which other phones will have the chipset?
The newest SoC powered phones are expected to arrive by the first quarter of 2021.
Hence we can see from this that Xiaomi is going to launch the first Snapdragon 888 Soc phone in the market. The Mi 11 series model is all set to announce in 2021, although there is also possible that it may be announced in coming January only. However, this is justified according to leaks by trusted tipster Ice universe, the Mi11 and Pro of Mi 11 are going to put this gem in late Dec 2020.
As soon as it is released, Mi 11 Pro will have a revolutionary four-curved screen design, and it could also run down to Mi 11. If we adopt Xiaomi’s expectations for its flagship models, the Pro edition should have a refresh rate of at least 120Hz, a QHD+ display.
Xiaomi will use the 4-in-1-pixel binning technology to capture 50MP images using a stellar 108MP primary camera lens. Advanced AI would add the 30x zoom standard to the handset. Apart from the mentioned SoC, the phone is said to come with a Corning Gorilla Glass screen, Quad HD+ display, and 4,780 mAh battery.
This is going to be a great improvement upon its predecessor. According to their own benchmark results, the processor will offer to give great results and performance as far as CPU, GPU, and AI are concerned, among other functions.
There are mixed reports about its comparison with Apple’s A14 Bionic chipset. One report says Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 may not be more powerful than them, while some say the chipset might dethrone them. According to Anandtech, Snapdragon 888 lagged with lesser scores than Apple’s flagship chips on tests like Geekbench 5 and GFX Bench benchmark tests.
