Ajay Devgn starrer biographical sports drama, “Maidaan” finds a new release date. The film will now be released in the theatres on October 15, 2021, being the fourth time that the film’s release has been pushed. The first release date was November 27, 2020, which was later changed to December 11, 2020, by the film crew. In late October 2020, it was announced that the film would release on Independence Day 2020. Due to the upheaval of the coronavirus pandemic, the date has been pushed to October 15, 2021.
The film is mostly set in the premises of the Golden era of Indian Football, mainly set in the years of 1951 to 1962. Ajay Devgn plays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, who is a football coach and manager of the Indian national team from 1950 until his death in 1963. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. The movie is directed by Amit Sharma, with Zee Studios as it’s a production house in collaboration with Bayview Projects LLP. It is also produced by Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Saiwyn Quadras. The story of the film is written by the latter 3 producers. The cinematography is done by Tushar Kanti Ray.
The casting of the film also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao. Apparently, the female lead role was supposed to be given to Keerthy Suresh, but since she looked younger in the role of the mother, Priyamani was offered the role.
The music production has Sidhant Mago and Mayank Mehra in the scores. The songs are composed by Amit Trivedi, Tanishk Bagchi, and Vishwajit Jaykar Pritam. Thus, with such a fine team, it is expected that Maidaan will pull a huge crowd when it gets released in the theatres.
